With Man United now 6 points clear of Chelsea will everyone start to put to bed the silly claim that "the premiership can be bought"? Chelsea have spent 10's of millions on their team over the last 4 or 3 years, and yet there they are, lagging well behind United. It was getting so boring the claim that Chelsea were simply buying success. Does everyone else agree that just because they could go and buy players for £10 - £30 million they won't just walk away with the title. Silverware comes from a clear team ethic and hardwork - symptomatic of laying longterm trust in local youth like Giggs etc etc etc. A team can't be created. A team has to grow.
Well you could argue Liverpool in the 80's, United in the 90's and now Chelsea in mid-00's have all had a substantial amount of spending money. However look at Madrid, they've got all the talent in the world and not even a tin of beans could win them a trophy. IMO it's all down to the managers geling the team or thats mostly the reason for Chelsea's dominance, I mean Mourinho is a proven winner at Porto with his peanut team - most people forget this.
So Chelsea being able to pay any price any team cares to name for their players hasn't accounted to their success? It seems a lot of people forget that five years ago, Chelsea were floundering, riddled with debt and chocked full with ageing stars and under-performing youngsters who were more interested in having a threesome with a couple of girls from Hollyoaks or having a fight with random punters outside nightclubs at 3am on a weeknight (Jody Morris anyone?).

United fans are turning into the new moaning liverpool: "Oh back in the day, we never..." It doesnt matter! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It seems a lot of people forget that five years ago, Chelsea were floundering, riddled with debt and chocked full with ageing stars and under-performing youngsters who were more interested in having a threesome with a couple of girls from Hollyoaks or having a fight with random punters outside nightclubs at 3am on a weeknight (Jody Morris anyone?).</div>That has anything to do with this because...
There's such a major difference with the Chelsea Vs United spending. United money was all money earned by the club, for the club. Chelsea's turned up with the Vodka order at the hilarious Chelsea Hotel. And the bit about Jody Morris etc was outlining how Chelsea fans seem to forget (or simply weren't even supporting them) that not long ago at all, Chelsea were an utter mess on and off the field.
