I am still very unsure about this move, even though i am very anxious to see how this team will do under Monty. Too bad next season doesn't start until 6 months.

Anyhow I have gone to the different sites and articles and have found just some random quotes that i thought were interesting.

The Glen Dicky article http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPGRH6Q1II1.DTL is pretty much what i had been thinking before the firing of Musselman. How can you fire Musselman, a successful coach, just because your players that have never won crap like Dunleavy, Dampier, and Foyle get upset with a few things Muss did. I mean look at Greg Popovic; that guy rips on Parker and Ginoboli and everyone else on his team. But you don't see the Spurs looking to get rid of him and you don't see his players being upset and crying like some of the players here. Maybe it's about time the players grew up some more. That is/was the problem not Musselman.

And this quote from Mullin about the discussions he and Monty had is interesting as well.
http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,14...2165248,00.html "We talked a lot about that, me and him," Mullin said. "He said it today, his openness that he doesn't know everything. And I told him, 'I don't, either. This is just as new for me, so let's grow together and lean on each other and put a staff together that's going to balance out, that's going to work.'"
And i would think that if you didn't know everything, that you'd stay with a coach that was giving the team a lot of success. At the very least you would get some stability, which would be important for a "young" team the Warriors have. I would think that a young team(actually any team) would learn the most and play the best with a coach they have had for a long time and a coach they are used to.

And it's always good to see the owner so very much involved with a team's plans and decision making. "When I walked into the hotel this morning and we were walking down the hallway, there was a guy in a suit looking at me," he (Mike) said. "I figured he was with the Warriors because he seemed like he was looking for somebody. And it was Chris Cohan. But I've never seen Chris before, so I didn't know who he was. Then he introduced himself. I'd never met him or talked to him before (Friday)."

And sort of going back to the first thought. It is good to see that Mike Dunleavy likes this new coach. Even though Musselman was the perfect coach for him, even if he didn't like him.

However here are some quotes that i read from Dunleavy, and quotes that i don't like or want to hear from my players. Maybe from a GM or something, but not a player. "The biggest issue for (Montgomery) will be the 82-game schedule," Dunleavy said. "You play almost three times as many games as you do in a college season. And you've also got to get used to not just losing two games a season. I hope he is not saying that he has gotten used to losing. And from some of the play i have seen from Dunleavy and some quotes from the past, it seems like Dunleavy loses and gives up too easily. I don't like that at all.

However i guess there are some quality things about Mike. He is very respected, a good communicator, hard working, energetic, and good with X's and O's. So if he can get this team to play as hard as Musselman did, then this could be a good move. However this team doesn't have the most talent, and playing hard like Muss got this team to do, is huge for a team without the most talent. Hopefully his X's and O's work in the NBA. And his experience of not having the most talent, but winning a lot more than his talent level was, will translate into the NBA as well. Even though he always seemed to fail in the NCAA tournament. Hopefully Mike's regular season record will be the success he brings to the Warriors, and not his post season records.

I think there will be an adjustment period as well. But Mike is a smart guy who has a personality that commands respect. I think NBA players will definitely respect him. And if someone is becoming a primadonna then we'll know for sure who isn't being a team player. Anyone know Shane Battier? I love that guy because he does what's necessary for the good of the team. We had a couple of those guys like him like Cliff Robinson, Claxton, Cardinal, Avery Johnson and Cheaney that didn't complain, did their job and shut the heck up to the media even if there was a problem. I think it was all the professionals and lockeroom leadership that inspired themselves not coach Musselman. At least that's what I think. I think Musselman got too much credit for the warriors strong performance at the end of the season. It was all the vets because Musselman started listening to them after they were in a losing streak.
