If they really want to win they should get rid of Matt Millen. That's the only way they'll win in my opinion. I hope Mooch lands a job somewhere.

So I take it Dick Jauron will be the interim?

The Detroit Free Press' Drew Sharp wrote this morning that there's a rumor that Green Bay is interested in Mariucci. That may allow Ted Thompson to fire Sherman and keep Favre happy at the same time. Mooch would be close to his parents and get to coach his boyhood NFL team. Sounds like a perfect fit for everyone.

Kowalski: Jauron has NOT agreed to be interim head coach
Tom Kowalski reports on Sports Radio 1130 Detroit that as of now Dick Jauron has not agreed to become the Lions' interim head coach. "That's why the Lions are putting off this press conference to make sure they get him in. As of right now Dick Jauron is not the interim head coach."

Killer speculates that QB coach Greg Olsen could be the guy to take over if Jauron ultimately does not agree. He's coveted around the league right now. The Saints wanted him to be their offensive coordinator, but the Lions didn't give him permission to interview.

Tom also hit the forum with this nugget.
as of right now (1:15 p.m.), dick jauron has NOT agreed to be the lions head coach ... there is definitely a hangup in the talks and i've heard it's because jauron wants some long-term assurances but i can't confirm that ... still, as of now, jauron is not on board ...

    Lions call press conference
The Lions have issued a press release saying Matt Millen will address the media at 4 p.m. in a press conference.

The 4 p.m. time is official. It was previously a tentative time, but has since been confirmed.

I would love to see Mooch here. Hopefully he can do the job with Rodgers that he did with Favre or similar to it. I've always liked Mooch as a coach. I also heard a lot of Michigan State rumors so take that for what it's worth.

Agreed. I want to know what Millen has done to make himself so bullet proof. Promised to buy Ford's for the rest of his life, kids & grandkids life. LOL.

Dre Bly was on Total Access last night saying Harrington is the problem & that if Garcia had been healthy Mooch would not have been let go.

They may look at Ron Rivera - Current Bears D Co-Ordinator! He will get a lot of interest in the offseason

Rivera has done an excellent job this year, but I think there are other guys ahead of him that have proven themselves for a longer period.

Let me add my voice to those saying that the Lions fired the wrong man. I still believe in Mooch. Matt Millen is the man who should be job hunting right now.

Someone said on this board before that Millen doesn't know how to draft and I totally agree, Mooch did what he could.

Millen is getting a free pass. I don't mind because as long as he's the GM they won't be turned around. He built a team through receivers and quarterbacks and only took the guys who were more hyped than others... One thing I give TT credit for is his pick of Nick Collins... Bethone Cookman..
