<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Unheralded free agent emerges from camp with chance, albeit slim, to make team's roster Sam Mitchell came up to the NBA the hard way, through Europe and the CBA, always having to prove himself and fight long odds. As he made his introductory comments at a Raptor free agent camp in May, he stressed that perhaps among the 20 or so players gathered there would be one who would turn out like him. The message hit home with at least one of those players and the long and difficult road to the NBA gets underway this week for Jamario Moon. The 6-foot-8 forward, who has played in an alphabet soup of minor leagues since going undrafted in 2001, will get a non-guaranteed contract from the Raptors this week, primarily off his performance in that weekend-long camp. The contract, for the minimum of $427,163 (U.S.) for undrafted players with no NBA experience, is partially guaranteed now and Moon will earn more guarantees by reaching various thresholds, such as making the 15-man roster out of training camp. </div> The Toronto Star I haven't even heard of this guy, but he sounds like he wants to play. And I think he could be better then Joey Graham at least. I wish we had a summer league roster so I could see this guy play, but he sounds not to bad.
http://www.infosportinc.com/jamariomoon.html Man this guy sounds like he was quite good just a few years ago - I wonder what happend to him, why he didn't make it?
<div class="quote_poster">NTC Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How many Small Forwards do you guys want!?</div> We have more SG then small forwards. Just Kapono and Delfino could play, but they aren't big like Moon. That 2-year deal could be good for him. I want him to succed, in Toronto were Joey Graham couldn't. He seems like a hard worker, and can relate to Sam. I hope he can become that SF we lost when VC left.
I agree with NTC. We need to stop bringing in Gaurd/Forwards and start looking at some big men. We already have Garbajosa, Kapono, Graham, and Printezis at the 3 and we have Parker, Dixon, Delfino at the 2 not to mention Calderon also playing some minutes at shooting gaurd with Ford. What we're lacking is size, we'll have Bosh/Bargnani starting but who will be their backups? I'm not comfortable with Rasho, Humphries and Sow coming off the bench.
I'd rather see the Toronto Raptors put more money on going after a physical rebounding centre than another swingman. I seriously doubt that Colagenlo is going to give Graham another chance now... As much as I want Graham to succeed.
This isn't a lot of money so there's nothing to really complain about. And, I seriously doubt we see this guy on our roster come October.
