<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The buzz this year around the Raptors has centred on all-star Chris Bosh, new point guard T.J. Ford and first overall pick Andrea Bargnani.

But the longest serving Raptor, swingman Morris Peterson, hopes to create a buzz of his own, by making the all-star team.

"I think it's possible," Peterson said last night. "I just have to keep working to help the team get better. If we start winning, who knows what will happen."

Peterson, 29, set career bests last season in almost every department, including points (16.6), minutes (38.2), and rebounds (4.7). He admitted that it is a tough challenge, given that his main responsibility some nights is guarding the other team's best player.

"When you think about all-stars you look at the guys who give you spectacular dunks every night and sometimes the guy who comes and punches in every day gets overlooked," he said. "But it's just a matter of me going out there, playing hard and taking advantage of opportunities. When I get out there and play everyday, I put it in my mind that I'm an all-star."</div>

i think it would be awsome if mo pete was an all-star. i dont know if he's good enough but it would still be cool to see one of the "flint-stones" become an all star.

He has a chance, but I highly doubt it.

Mo Pete is solid and really has came along, if our team wins a lot, maybe he'll be selected by coaches.

Hmm Mo Pete is probably slotted as a F.

In the east we have Bosh, Dwight, Jermaine, Lebron, Pierce, and I don't know how many spots go for forward.

Does anyone know how many players at each position are selected?

I think its just 2 at every position; not totally sure though.

Seeing all those players you named the East looks like they'll be winning a lot of All-Star games from now. Man, I'd love to see a lineup of:
    PG: Wade
    SG: Pierce
    SF: Lebron
    PF: Bosh
    C: Dwight

Back to Mo-pete though. If he continues to play like he has so far, then I dont think he'll make it. Even though it's just the first three games of the season, he really needs to step up as a second scoring option if he wants to make it.

Don't think his chances are very good at all. He has never shown the ability to consistently score about 20 points/game for extended periods, let alone a whole season.

He's just not all-star material. Good but not all-star good (unless he was a center).

What kind of numbers would Mo Pete have to put up for a season to get into the all-star game from coaches?

Well, if Mo Pete's best shot at making the allstar game is through the center slot, I guess we should start him at center, but it would be a big waste if he didn't make the allstar game even when we gave him such a valuable opportunity. [IMG]

Yea, it's not happening. Peterson's a role player. A very good role player, but let's not kid ourselves here. If there were to be another Raptor on the All-Star team (and there won't) it'd probably be TJ Ford.

    I like his aspirations, though.

Maybe we can get Mo Pete voted in as a starter!!!!

Imagine Stern or LBJ reacting to Mo Pete getting voted in instead of Lebron or Jermaine O'Neil.

Maybe if he was part Chinese or something, like how a ton of people vote for Yao in China.

He'll probably get slotted in by the coaches, if he is really putting up numbers. At least 20 ppg, but that chance is still very slim. And I agree with Chutney, TJ Ford will have a better chance of making it over Mo.

i love mo, just like the rest of us but he needs to learn how to go right before something like that can be taken seriously. btw- is mo still the best shooting guard on the team anymore with parker on the club?

I need to see Parker more, but he definitely could be. I do like Parker's willingness to be a team player and not force shots.

In the Nets game I liked what I saw, but not as much in the San Antonio game. I really liked his mid range jumper and his turn around jumper in the New Jersey game.

I think there's a very good chance that Parker takes the role Peterson had last year. That brings up another interesting question: If Parker shows he can equal Peterson's contributions, and considering that he has a longer contract, do you think Colangelo might use Mo-Pete as trade bait?

I think it's best to keep them both. If we can get a good trade then sure, but for now I say keep them both. Mo'pete and Parker are a solid 2, 3.

Only reason I put that up there is because Peterson's contract finishes this year (I think). He's definitely going to be angling for a raise and if we already have someone who can equal his production, Colangelo might decide to save the money and try to get a prospect/pick off a contender that needs a little more firepower (Denver?).

I like Mo Pete though, unless I knew that Mo Pete was going to demand ridiculous money or wanted out I'd want to keep a good defender, team player, and good 3pt shooter/slasher.

If Mo Pete wanted a lot of money, or wanted to play on another team by midseason and was ok with a trade then I could understand it.

who do u want from denver? i understand they have no shooting but all their bigs are injury prone and divas at that. although, marcus camby has always been my favourite ex rap. plus if peterson is traded, that means joey g joins the rotation [IMG]

well, Parker would probably shift over to SF, Garbajosa would take some minutes there too. It would take a blow to our depth though.

    Jones @ SG 30 mpg //Tucker 13 mpg// Parker 5 mpg
    Parker @ SF 25 mpg// Garbajosa 15 mpg // Joey Graham 8 mpg

We could probably do it, but we are better off with Mo Pete.

garbosa is too slow footed at times in guarding 4s, do u really expect him to chase around much quicker 3s?
