Superstar Offensive Players demand touches, Superstar Role Players Do not. 3. 76ers Need Great Role Players, not more Great scorers.</font> I think it's obvious, Chris Webber doesn't fit into The 76ers system, or more importantly alongside Allen Iverson. The 76ers needed to realize when they traded for Chris Webber just what kind of player he truly is. He needs touches, he isn't a role player, it's that simple. Just what were The 76ers thinking? First of all the NBA game is designed inside out. Ask The Spurs, you play off Tim Duncan. Ask Miami, you play off Shaquille O'Neal. INSIDE OUT. So why do you bring an allstar caliber Power Foward and expect him to limit his game so Allen Iverson can score 40 yet they still lose? His frustration is justified. Sure, he hasn't shot well, but that's because his role is so undefined and so out of his element. It's best for both parties if Chris Webber is moved yet again in my opinion. What would be best for The 76ers, or any team trying to build solely around a scoring guard (The Lakers, etc.) is to aquire rugged, hussle type players. Carlos Boozer for instance, a guy who can make things happen without demanding touches. Rebounds, Fastbreaks, Tip-ins, Second Chance Buckets. Boozer also possesses a nice mid range jumpshot which could still be utilized in The 76ers system without taking away from Iverson's touches. The 76ers have simply fell victim to the same false theory that The Lakers fell to just this summer. More ALLSTARs don't mean More WINS. Lamar Odom is a GREAT player, but he needs touches, he needs shots, he needs to be involved. In a system like LAs, where Kobe dominates everything offensively, that just isn't possible. The same applies here. Dallas tries it every year, compile several allstar caliber players and hope for the best. It doesn't happen that way, it never has, it never will. ------------- Here's a quick suggestion: 76ers Trades: SG Andre Iguodala & PF Chris Webber to UTAH 2nd Round Draft Selection to Golden State Utah Trades: F Carlos Boozer & C Jarron Collins to The 76ers F Kris Humpries & 2nd Round Selection to Golden State Warriors Trades: G Derek Fisher to The 76ers ------------- TEAM OUTLOOKS: The 76ers: PG: Derek Fisher SG: Allen Iverson SF: Kyle Korver PF: Carlos Boozer C: Samuel Dalembert (Certainly Boozer becomes a much better fit than Webber and posts almost identical numbers on average, but less assists. However with a much better shooting percentage, equal production for less touches. 76ers also aquire Derek Fisher, a proven point guard who boasts three championships.) The Jazz: PG: Keith McLeod SG: Matt Harpring SF: Andrei Kirilenko PF: Chris Webber C: Mehmet Okur (The Jazz would grow stronger off the bench with the addition of Andre Iguodala, and now with Chris Webber on their roster, their point guard inconsistences won't be quite as magnified with his passing abilities.) The Warriors: Move Derek Fisher's contract, his services are no longer needed with Baron Davis in town. They would receive Two 2nd Round Draft Selections and Kris Humpries who shows great potential.
I only agree with your trade suggestions to a certain extent because I wouldn't like to see Iguodala leave. I think boozer would be better than webber as he is a lot younger so it would benefit them more in the long run, though I can't really see it happeninig. If Sixers make it to the playoffs I think webber will play well. Though we will have to wait and see what happens.
Yea, I just can't see Iggy leaving because everybody in the organization is so thrilled about this young talented rookie.
From what I hear from Sixer fans, they're very high on Iguodala. Trading him for Boozer is probably not the best idea. The draft will come up and wherever Philly goes, they can get someone decent. I think a European player that is a perimteter threat will do them tons good!
they don't have a first round pick unless they get the top 8. i think the pick goes to toronto. oh yeah, they don't have a first round picks in 2007 either.
Iggy is going to be an all star and Philly will not be trading him, no way. We are not the Bulls who seem to always trade away talent and get nothing in return (although props to the Bulls for putting together a pretty good season thus far). Iverson and Iggy work really well together and its only getting better, so he is staying. Also, everyone seems to hate on the Webber trade now, but all thought it was great at the time. 20 games is not enough to be making rash judgements so leave the Webber trade alone for a while, the hating is getting boring!!!
