Sharpe/Scoot/Nurk/$ for Embiid. Keep Dame? [Goodwill] Many around the league believe Joel Embiid will ask out sooner rather than later — and that a full rebuild is what Morey is covertly hoping for. For Morey, a teardown could be better than another outright failure in the East. Source: https://sports.yahoo.com/james-hard...ixers-more-than-1-unhappy-star-022301007.html > The NBA is a relationship business, and the Harden-Morey business has been fruitful for Morey, who garnered the “genius” label by poaching Harden from Oklahoma City before the start of the 2012-13 season. > It paved the way for Harden to carry the Houston Rockets for nearly a decade and Morey has been the patron saint for a certain type of executive. But his blind spot has always been the people business. It’s long been accepted emotional attachments can lead to wayward decisions, but not acknowledging the domino effect for other players and teams will cost someone in the end. > However this ends, could it cost Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers the services of one Joel Embiid? > Embiid has said all the right things publicly, but there has to be some residual fatigue in his entire 76ers experience. Morey is only responsible for the last few years, but in totality, many around the league believe Embiid will ask out sooner rather than later — and that a full rebuild is what Morey is covertly hoping for. > For Morey, a teardown could be better than another outright failure in the East. He threw Doc Rivers overboard this summer, and it’s worth noting the 76ers haven’t gotten any closer to the East finals since Morey took over — he wasn’t running things when Kawhi Leonard’s bounce-bounce-bounce-bounce buoyed the Toronto Raptors to new heights in 2019, and the 76ers have squandered at least two opportunities since.
Blazers have successfully sold the rebuild to fans. Sneaking in some terrible basketball, then drafting young, talented, highlight reel top 7 rookies. It's too late to turn around, this Blazers franchise has grabbed the all-rookie turbo wave runner, and is headed for open water to do donuts. The big ships are boringly chugging to dock and loading up win now talent. 3 months ago, Embiid, Grant, Lillard would have been a Blazers dream team. It was even discussed by local media for tuned-in Blazers fans who watch the games. Repeatedly seeing a tiny team, who very much could use more bigs, as Portland got pounded in the paint. The idea of acquiring the 2nd best big man in the NBA would make a world of difference in Portland. Too old, too expensive. Saving the Blazers owner money is the trendy new topic. Should Blazer fans be concerned about a billionaire making/losing money? No, but certainly skipping past the financial state of Portland to watch high flying dynamic young talent, has become more appealing then a slow foot Center on a supermax.
The reason why miami wasn't serious about dame is because they are waiting for the inevitable that joel embiid to ask out and move bam to pf. Why go for Dame if they van turn herro, duncan robinson, and 2 FRPs into Embiid?
I agree Scoot / Ant / Nurk then whatever other contracts to make it happen ala Keon , Little etc and 2 or 3 1st's ( swaps etc ) for Joel Will not happen but who knows we live in a crazy world and maybe it will -- LOL
