Twins first baseman Justin Morneau took early batting practice with his teammates on Tuesday afternoon at Target Field as he continues to recover from the concussion he suffered on July 7.

Morneau hit a few balls over the wall into the right-field stands while taking batting practice with some of his teammates, including Delmon Young and Nick Punto.

"Fresh hands," Morneau joked about his hitting session.

It was one of many workouts that Morneau has been taking part in almost daily at Target Field. This was the first time it had occurred on the field with others around to watch. But while it appeared to be a positive step for the first baseman, as he played catch and shagged balls during BP as well, he said there was nothing new to report.

"We're just letting him do his thing," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He has had a number of good days. When he goes out on the field and he tells us he's ready, that's when we'll start talking. We're just letting him do his thing, that's all."

Morneau said he still has yet to go through a day symptom-free from the concussion he suffered when he took an accidental knee to the head on a slide into second base during a game at Toronto.

"It feels good when I wake up in the morning and as the day goes on, it doesn't feel as good," Morneau said.
