<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The NBA expects Randolph Morris and two other Kentucky basketball products to attend its Chicago Pre-Draft Camp next week. The four-day camp, which begins Tuesday, is a final gathering of prospects in one location before the June 28 draft. Guard Kelenna Azubuike and forward Chuck Hayes are also expected to play in the Chicago camp. Morris, a freshman long on potential but short on productivity last season, will not necessarily need to dominate competitors at the Pre-Draft Camp to improve his stock, NBA consultant Chris Ekstrand said yesterday. "The Southeastern Conference is well scouted," Ekstrand said. "It's a conference the NBA pays a lot of attention to. He's not going to surprise a lot of people." Morris came to UK as a McDonald's All-American. He considered making the jump from high school to the NBA last spring. That history makes him even more of a known commodity. "He's not going to be an unknown player who blossoms (in the Chicago camp)," Ekstrand said. "He's the type that his play will just add another page to his folder." Scoring points and grabbing rebounds should not be Morris' sole objectives, Ekstrand advised. "It's pretty simple," the consultant said of the approach a player should take in Chicago. "Play hard. Listen to what the coaches are telling you. ... Absorb everything you're told. Be a sponge and treat everything as a great experience."</div> Source
Well, scoring points and rebounding wasn't his thing last season- 8 points and 4 boards a game isn't cutting it as the starting center. Chuck Hayes, the undersized power forward at 6'6 averaged 8 rebounds a game. Morris is lazy when playing defense and often fails to block his man out. Morris needs to work on a jumper of some kind, because the one he has right now flat out is pitiful. I feel that 1 more year of playing college ball with Tubby could help Randolph out a whole bunch, but from what i've heard, Morris' dad is already talking with agents. So Morris is as good as gone...
"Morris takes skills to...." Unfortunately he's travelin' light. Kid,did you pack your J? No,son, that is your toothbrush,go back to school and pay more attention.
