"Four is a magical number for these Pirates. For the 10th time in 11 games when they've scored a minimum of four runs, the Pirates won tonight -- by 4-2 over Chicago for Charlie Morton's inaugural season victory in six starts. It marked their fourth-biggest margin of victory this season -- just two runs. Morton (1-5) pitched well enough to not only shave more than two runs off his already bloated ERA -- down to 10.30 -- but allow his fewest runs (two) and his fewest hits (five) in his deepest work (six plus one batter into the seventh) thus far this season. After a leadoff single in the seventh, Morton was lifted for a reliever, and most of the fans in attendance gave the exiting starter robust applause. Andrew McCutchen, returning to play after missing a game and a half after spraining his right ankle in Los Angeles, got a single and a double in his first pair of at-bats to get in the thick of Pirates' scoring. His first-inning single moved Bobby Crosby, who had a leadoff double. Garrett Jones' single scored Crosby from third for a 1-0 Pirates lead." http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10125/1055972-63.stm
