Among these are the most improved canditates and why:
Gerald wallace- This guy has so much athleticism, and in Charlotte he will get a chance night after night. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy rips 20ppg a night.
Chicago- Eddy Curry- If this guy plays up to potential like he does against the Raptors, he should be able to get 26ppg and 12 rpg.
Tyson CHandler- Did u see this guy in the beginning of last season- He was on pace for the rebounding leader. Expect 15ppg and 12 rpg.
Yao Ming- HEs imrpoving every year- and with McGrady on the team he'll get the ball even more. Yao could get as much as 25ppg and 12rpg.
Kobe Bryant- Although hes jacking up virtually 30 shots a night. I could see him jacking up more. Kobe could possibly average 35 ppg, 6, and 6. Now thats much more than 24,5,5.
VInce Carter- Vince could finally silence critics if he gets rid of his fears, and starts to get mad. I wouldn't be amazed if we see half man half amazing again/ Lets look forward to 27,5,5.
Lebron James- THe team is now totally his; he can start taking the league early, Mr James could get 25,7,7.
Al Harrington- Finally will get the role he wanted, could end up with 20 and 10.
Stromile Swift- If hes a starter he could obtain 18ppg 10 rpg, and 2 bpg.
JOnathon Bender- THis guy is so similar to KG, its not even funny. If he bulks up, this guy is a monster- he could shoot the three, fade, post up, and dunk like the best of them. He could be the franchise instead of Jermaine Oneal (raptors will be very sad if he does become the franchise)
Chris Bosh- Either Carter or Bosh will rip it up much more than last year. Maybe if they are lucky both can. Look for him to get 20 ppg and 10rpg.
Antwon JAmison- From 6th man of the year he'll probably win the most improved. he should get 23ppg, 8rpg, and 3apg.

Finally some love for my favorite player, Antawn Jamison. But I think Gerald Wallace will win it considering he is one of the only good players on the BobCats squad. They will look to him for there veteran leadership.

You probably forgot the whole concept of the MIP award. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Yao Ming and Vince Carter? These individual players especially at their caliber are by no means MIP candidates. If God helps and by a chance one of these players averages 50 PPG which is very unlikely, you can rule them out for the MIP Award. The MIP Award is given to players whom did next to nothing the previous years and has a breakout year this season. Antawn Jamison is probably not even a candidate for this award either. The most obvious candidates are the likes of Eddy Curry, Gerald Wallace, and Willie Green and so on.

I would take Carter, Yao, and Kobe off the list, when was the last all-star to win MIP? The MIP award like avery said usually goes to a play that has a breakout year. I would take Jonathan Bender from that list that you provided, he is going to take some of Reggies minutes (he's getting old) and Al Harrington's. Gerald Wallace is a good canidate too.

Jammison shouldnt be a candiate,he has been a good players during his carrer and has even put up 50 point games there is no way he can be considered as a "Most Improved Player".

But I think players like,W.Green,Samuel Dalembert, and G.Wallace are most likely going to be the canidates and I think that Green or Wallace will win it.But I also think Sammy D will make a run for it also,he played like 7 game the last two season before the 03-04 season,so if he keeps it up his year might be his breakout year.

Did u know wilt chamberlain got the most improved player award after his rookie season, when he got 50ppg. So son it is possible for a star to be the most improved.

Really? You?re probably right. But from my knowledge the NBA didn't keep stats back then. Or shall I say the NBA wasn?t really intact with statistics the way the NBA is today opposed to the Wilt Chamberlain era. Nonetheless, like I said unless if players such as Kobe, Carter etc. average 50PPG, they are not going to be candidates for the MIP Award. And let?s be serious, what are the changes of them averaging 50PPG?

I wasn't alive then, but you'll need to verify that point with a legitimate source, please.

    <font color="Purple">From Lakers History</font>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Retired on November 9, 1983 in honor of Wilt Chamberlain, a memeber of the 1971-72 championship team that won an NBA record 33 consecutive games and a then-NBA record 69 contests overall (averaged 14.8 points and team-leading 19.2 rebounds that season) ... named Most Valuable Player of the 1972 NBA Finals, when he averaged 14.7 points and 21.0 rebounds ... led the NBA in rebounding on 11 occasions, including four times with the Lakers ... averaged a Los Angeles franchise record 21.1 rebounds during the 1968-69 campaign and averaged over 18 boards four times with the Lakers ... appeared in 13 NBA All-Star Games ... entered the NBA Hall of Fame in 1978 ... averaged an NBA record 50.4 points during the 1961-62 campaign ... scored 50-plus points on 118 occasions ... led the NBA in both scoring and rebounding (same season) on five occasions ... earned NBA Most Valuable Player honors four times ... was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history during the league's 50th anniversary season in 1996-97 ... ranks first overall on the club's field goal percentage list (.605). </div>

    and

    NBA Awards 59-60

Just in case I misunderstood which year you were referring to:

    NBA Awards 60-61

I don't find him winning that award in either of those sources. In fact, I don't even see the award officially existing.

Also: You used the term "son" to refer to someone. In the future, it would be appreciated if you didn't use that term. You could simply be an older poster addressing someone you know to be younger, but in many cases, it's taken as an insult and you're talking down to someone.

That may not be your intention here, but please keep it in mind for the future. Thanks.

I would like to suggest Gerald Wallace, as he seems to have a lot to prove, and now he has a big chance to show it.
Luke Walton seems to be improved to me. He has a lot of talent, it's in his genes...and I think he really could get a chance with the Lakers this year.
