For me these three immediately come to mind though I could sit there and go through about 20. Tory Holt - Obviously one of the top receivers but fantasy wise had good yardage and catch numbers but was not a big TD threat till this season. He BLEW UP fantasy wise to say the least and went from a top ten receiver to the top Fantasy receiver this year. Ahman Green- The potential was always there but he was always getting banged up and not being able to stay on the field which cost him alot of goaline opps. He fixed that this season and piled on the yardage as well. Also catches the ball as well as any back in the league. Fumbles were still a problem but with his numbers they didn't matter much. Jamal Lewis - I mean ya you best year is your second year after an ACL injury but come on now. NFL leading rusher. Thats all I have to say and consistent to boot. Not to mention the biggest game of the season besides portis' 5 TD effort. He has propelled him self to a top 5 back easily next year if not the top back. He is young and can only get better if a passing game ever delvelops around him. Also is this years McNair....No Practice No matter. Honorable mention Stephan Davis, Santana Moss, Peter Warrick, Tai Streets, Jon Kitna, Reggie Wayne I know there are plenty of others so lets here them.
Plenty? There can only be a limited amount of improved players and I think you got most of the good ones. Hasselbeck was better this year, but he's young so you'd expect it. Anthony Thomas had a bounce back year even if his numbers weren't record breaking. Keenan McCardell was a nice surprise as well. He was very valuable and became moreso as they fazed out Cryshawn Johnson. Other than those, you really named the best and brightest of the upcoming class.
You wanna know how much better Santana Moss was than expected?...He went undrafted in the RZFFL, and I claimed him as a FA right after the draft, but I got bad advice and cut him....had I kept him, he woul have been my best WR most of the year and I might be playing for a title right now....damn Im sorry I let him get away
Ya I got santana half way through right as he started to blow up. I was just waiting for pennington to return. He is pretty nasty. I traded Pittman and Freddie jones for him. What a steal since both guys rode my bench.
MOST IMPROVED PLAYERS ================================================ RBS 1.Brian Westbrook-Yes, let's make it known now... You've arrived. With this guys ability to make people miss and terrific acceleration, he has singal handedly saved the Eagles' season. I would go as far to say that he should be Philly's MVP this year. The only down-side is that he resides in the bizzaro-world that is called "RB by commitee". Regardless of that, he is the big-play-threat that Philly has been looking for and should be a quality #2RB for next season. 2.Rudi Johnson-Who would have thought it!?! This third year speedster from Auburn was for real. I didn't give the man any credit at all coming into the year, but he has made a believer out of me now. If I know Paul Brown, then Dillon is as good as gone in the "Nati". Johnso should be playing for his contract and staking his claim in the league. No down side with Cinncy on the rise.. Should be another solid #2RB for your roster. 3.Kevan Barlow- .....Well, he did improve upon last years numbers and as Hearst ages more we will see the birth of one of fantasy football's great super scorers. I know this kid is golden, the only thing I'm not sure about is the direction that San Francisco management is heading. York is a cheap-skate, plain and simple. Barlow has come on and shown that his College career was no joke. As soon as Hearst isn't in the picture, jump for joy and then jump for Barlow! =================================================== Honorable Mention-rookie Dominack Davis - The Texans are a team that is definately playing for next season, but all the pieces seem to be falling into place for them; as far as skill positions go. Johnson, Gaffney, Bradford, and Miller are all back next year and Carr is the franchise. Davis is now in the position to carve out a nitch for himself in Houston. =================================================== WRs 1.Chad Johnson-He really set the field on fire this season. I think his pro-bowl nomination was valid and he has come out and shown that he is sollid. But, I also think that he is out for the money. Everybody knew it was his contract year and so did he. Of course you're going to go out and plkay like gang-busters when you know you pay-check is on the line..... Ala Peerless Price last year. I'm not totally sold here. I can't make any assurance for next year's version of Chad Johnson, but I do know that the kid is definatley Keyshawn's cousin and I hate Keyshawn more than Carrot-Top, Bill Walton, Sean Salisbury, and Judge Judy put together into one single person. 2.Santana Moss-This kid is refreshing. I thought he was one of the millions that where a bust draft pick, but he definately belongs. The QB loves him and Moss has shown damn good stats with less than half a season of Chad Pennington. Should post great numbers next year with hardly any down-side. Excellent #2WR. 3.Javon Walker-Speaking of contract years on the horizon. This former first rounder should be playing for the bling bling this coming year. He has developed a good repore with Brett and should turn it on next season. Downsides are that he's still stuck with Driver, the over-glorrified deap-threat, anf Fergusson. Hopefully he realizes that he's the future there. =================================================== Honorable Mention Anquan Boldin-Talk about your coming out parties!! He did that and then some. Who ever the QB is next season couldn't possibly hinder the performance of Boldin. This guy is the real-deal. He reminds me of a "baby-TO". He has the whole combo of size, strength, leaping ability, and break-away speed. How could he get any worse!?! The only downside is the orginization of the Cards. Arizona is a losing franchise, but that never means they won't score points. Boldin has stepped into the league as a go-to-guy and he has stepped into fantasy football's #1WR category.
Anyone else notice that Chris Chambers caught his 10th TD pass yesterday? I'd say that qualifies him as a sleeper/improved player.
