Mourinho Satisfied With Result, But Not Performance

Inter coach Jose Mourinho is satisfied that his team are on top of the Group B standings, but unimpressed with the performance in their 1-0 victory over Anorthosis Famagusta

Inter were expected to defeat Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but only did so by a score of 1-0 at the San Siro.

Jose Mourinho now sees his side sitting alone atop of the Group B standings, but he was not overly impressed with the work his side put into the match.

"I agree it was not a fantastic performance tonight," said 'The Special One' following the victory. "Although, in the situation and looking at the result we are very comfortable in the group and can be satisfied."

The former Chelsea manager blamed some of the fatigue and knocks his players took on the international break: "This last week was not an easy one as many were away on international duty, especially the Brazilians and Argentines.

"I think (Esteban) Cambiasso's injury was a natural consequence of all these journeys and matches at the highest level. We have problems in midfield with all these injuries."

Adriano scored the winning goal for Inter after it was suggested Mourinho was upset with him following his late return from international training this week, and the coach gave some advice to the Brazilian striker.

"If Adriano sleeps well, trains hard, and drinks only water, he can comfortably do this work for the team for 90 minutes. He is only 25 after all," he concluded.

Mourinho's next test as Inter coach will be on Sunday, when the Nerazzurri host Genoa at 1500 CET.
