<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New York Post: "In yet another swell moment for the NBA this season, Alonzo Mourning last night claimed that he was so discouraged by the moves the Nets made that when he went out on the court, he 'didn't care anymore' about the game, an admission challenged by former teammates and Nets coach Lawrence Frank."

Mourning took his customary shots at the Nets. He claimed team president Rod Thorn wasn't truthful with the media when the exec claimed in December he believed Mourning never would play again for the Nets. Before he was dealt to Toronto, Mourning sat three games through an assortment of injuries.

"I told Rod it got to the point, and I never felt this way about basketball in my life until I got here, where I didn't care anymore. When I stepped on the floor and it was like, 'Wow, I didn't care,' " said Mourning, who got a $9 million buyout for the Raptors and signed with the Heat.

"It was kind of unfortunate because I never thought I'd reach that level. But it got to the point of 'Why am I doing this?' . . . Things that were done that I wasn't pleased with. </div> Source

I really dont understand why Zo is even complaining or talking anymore? Rod Thorn is the one that made it possible for him to get exactly what he wanted which was to end up back in Maimi on a championship caliber team. I have alot of respect for Zo but he needs to get over the moves Rod Thorn made in the summertime, it is clear as day that the new owner ship is the ones who forced Rod to make those moves. Zo your the man, but its time to shut up & ride Shaq & Wades coatails to the finals.

I am not sure what Zo is trying to accomplish, but I as an onlooker and NBA fan I am starting to loose respect for Zo. He did not have to make a come back and risk his health, but he chose to do so; that I find couragous and respect that. But complaining about the desicions of other people and attempting to elevate yourself above them just demotes your own personality in my opinion.

Another thing that I forgot to mention: Thorn is one of the best GMs in the NBA and the only reason that Mourning was signed two years ago was to give Kidd an incentive to stay. And the K-Mart move was a way to provide the Nets with a brighter future; as we can see now with the aquasition of Carter and the remenents of two draft picks. Thorn wants the Nets to compete and it shows.

Zo is doing what he does best these days, complain about how no one respects him when he basically screwed over our franchise last season. He demanded that gauranteed contract and huge salary. We needed him last year and he wasn't around. Yeah he had a kidney problem, and I sympathize, but he should have not complained because he was every part of that destruction. Who knows, if he had been healthy, we might have gone to the Finals again. We were missing a rebounder to contend with the Wallaces. It's a joke. I've lost nearly all respect for Zo. He's no longer a warrior in my eyes as much as a bitter old man who's lost touch of what it means to rise above all challenges.
