I said two days ago that I didn't believe any of this... and I still don't... but god theres just too much press on his supposed desire to come here. This would be an absolute short term home run for us. Next year at 5.6 or w.e it is cap hit would be an absolute steal AND we would still have cap space to add another top six forward. Then again... I hope there isn't some behind the scenes promises of keeping Richards in town to entice marty to come here.

If only the buyout could be extended to the following year you could actually justify keeping Richards next year to play with MSL. I'm sure he would do well with Stepan or Brassard too.

Quick question. If they buy out Richards, could they still resign him at a cheaper cap hit? I know it seems silly, but him as a player isn't too big of an issue; it's really the money he's getting that is.

I think there's a time limit of a year in between or something.

Yep SC the original team using the amnesty has to wait a year

In Richards case if he is bought out he will be signed by someone else pretty quick at a discount I would think....Rangers could resign him if he waited a year

What if they trade him after the season then that team buys him out would he be eligible to sign with the rangers?

No idea Al....I would think once he is traded the other team has to pay him and they could resign him but can't see that ever happening
