MTV Films and Nick Movies will join other group labels, including Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks SKG, Paramount Vantage and Paramount Classics, according to a Monday release by Viacom, the media giant that owns Paramount. Scott Aversano, previously an independent producer for Paramount Pictures, has been named president of the new labels. He will be responsible for film development, production and acquisitions. Aversano will report to Gail Berman, the president of Paramount Pictures. "We believe that together we can take these brands to the next level, attract the best talent and material across genres, and really tap into our strong relationships with kid, teens, young adults and families around the globe," Judy McGrath, Chairman and CEO of MTV Networks, said in the release. Nick Movies will continue to focus on animated and family movies, and MTV Films will work on comedies, documentaries, "urban" movies and horror films for teenagers and young adults, the release said. Nickelodeon's recent releases include this summer's "Nacho Libre," starring Jack Black.
