Dang. Pretty close to the Cheerful Tortoise. I used to hang out there all the time when I was in grad school.

Sounds like somebody purposely drove a vehicle into a group of people. Sick.

Sounds like a mentally ill person drove onto a sidewalk and ran over 3 to 4 women on 6th ave by PSU. Glad its not some terrorist group, but this is still terribly fucked up. My thoughts are with the victims. I was wondering when this type of thing would come here. Ever since the FBI did that sting awhile back with the guy trying to buy the explosives for his van...(he bought fake explosives from undercover FBI and parked the van at Pioneer Square and attempted to set it off during new years eve I think, or the Christmas tree lighting) I wondered about when terrorists would strike here in Portland. A scary thought.

As someone who went to PSU, my first thought was that it was a few people who crossed without looking. The number of people who just walk across the street while staring at their phones is insanely high. It's a miracle that more people don't get hit around there.

The problem with this is the driver drove away.

That's why it's called a hit and run.

Why the hell would you put casualties in the title when no one died...?

That literally has nothing to do with what I'm saying. If you walk out into the street without looking, you're putting your life in the hands of a lot of very stupid people. So many people around that campus just walk out into the street while staring at their phones. A lot of them jaywalk. It's not smart at all.

Again, your rant about people and their phones has nothing to do with this. The old man went up on the sidewalk and drove down it while striking people with his car. These were not people not paying attention while crossing the street.

Bond, 48, said he was sitting outside of the Starbucks at Southwest Sixth and Mill drinking a coffee when he heard a scream. He looked up the street and saw the SUV coming towards him. He jumped up and stood against the brick wall next to the tables as the driver made for him.

    ...

Patrol Sgt. Pat Kelly said the driver plowed onto the sidewalk and “really banged up a lot of people.’’

I didn't say they did. I'm not ranting.

    I said my first thought.

Get the fuck over yourself Sly.

Wow! Yeah, its scary to know the guy was so close to doing that. What is stopping someone else from trying

That was a very inappropriate response as Sly was clearly trying to explain to you the situation of which you would have known if you read the articles. Coming up with some theory without knowing the facts is called "jumping to a conclusion" and that's how false stories start to get spread and then you compound it by attacking sly.

    Again.....

I'm not talking about THIS situation. I was saying it's a miracle more of these kinds of things don't happen because of how completely unaware most of the students are of their surroundings. It was a musing. A thought. I didn't come up with a theory. I said my first thought when I heard about it.

Accusing me of ranting is also out of line.

How is accusing you of ranting out of line?

    It's not an insult.
