Apparently they're killing indiscriminately, but searching for Westerners (US/British passports specifically) to take hostage. This is some seriously fucked up shit. One of the hotels is still burning. They must've been planning this for a while.
Its strange, they keep saying in the news how they just lowered security last week at the Taj Hotel. It used to be pretty stringent but last week they decided to lower it and now this happens in quick succession. Is that just a coincidence? Did the terrorists know? Makes you wonder if they'd been plotting this for a long time or if they just put it together in the last week or so.
Some group called the Deccan Mujahadeen are claiming responsibility, apparently. The news said they're relatively unknown but I googled them and found some stuff. In May, they claimed responsibility for several blasts in Jaipur that killed 70 and wounded 63 others (link). This other report I found was even more interesting (link). It's about a more generally named "Indian Mujahadeen," which sounds connected to the latter group. The article talks about how the group issued a statement denouncing the Mumbai police for their violence on Muslims and threatening more violence. It came out in September. Very, very ominous.
The United States should stay out of this militarily, but give aide to India when they go to war. While the Pakistani's are busy fighting the Indians, the United States should go into Northern Pakistan (using Indian soldiers) to take out Bin Laden. United States should avoid getting directly involved in this war at all costs. This will be the first nuclear war since World War 2.
That's a pretty big statement there. Do you have any evidence to back it up? The fact that both countries have nuclear weapons doesn't mean they'll use them.
Perhaps they won't, but a Pakistan vs. India war has the highest probability of ending in nuclear war. Those suckers hate each other a lot.
Well, Iran are developing nuclear weapons and could (unfortunately) bomb Israel one day. That would also eventually end up as a nuclear war. But I agree, Pakistan and India despise each other and would probably be the first to pull out nuclear weapons...I don't think it'll happen anytime soon though.
