lol..defiently kmart. brings more fans..a beast...has offecne to. but murphy--i dont know him to well besides he can rebound real good. i bet he is alot cheaper then kmart..and prolly puts up better rebounding numbers...but i would much rather play murphy one on one then kmart..kmart more of a threat--more of a proven player....but that is an intrieging question..when i firts saw it im like lol kmart all the way--but a si type..murphy aint much different for the money value
Yeah, that's the thing. The whole economics. Kmart thinks he should get max money because he's the #1 overall pick in his year. Plus can k-mart play big in the west?
I would pick Murphy if I wanted to win games, though K-Mart is a great player Murphy is more solid, but if I wanted to bring in the fans and win some I would pick K-Mart, but overall Murphy.
I would put Murphy. IMO he is a better all around player. K-Mart is a flashier player but Murphy does pretty much the same things. Murphy rebounds and he is a good defender. Murphy also has range, something K-Mart struggles with.
Rudeezy, you think Murphy is a good defender? Maybe in the low post I would agree, but he can't stop quicker forwards or guards driving to the rim and that's the biggest problem. But of course maybe team defense is the problem. You shouldn't have guys like Dunleavy and Richardson getting beat all the time. Everyone on the floor should be reading the offense and adjusting accordingly to help each other out. At times I think Richardson doesn't know where to be or how to get around screens. Dunleavy is too slow and is used to playing Duke team defense to make up for having less athletic defenders like Shane Battier and so forth. TwinTowers, those are some good points. I am big fans of the two but am not so sure if Kmart will ruin the long term plan. He's good but not franchise worthy to throw a max deal at.
I dont think Kmart is worth a max contract, but if Damp is worth 8-10m per year, then surely Kmart is worth about that. I have loved Kmarts aggressiveness since I saw him play in Cinci. I have not seen enough of Murphy since he was injured all of last year. Murph is definately a better rebounder, but that is it. All things being equal, I would rather have Kmart, but if I can keep Murphy at a lesser price, I will keep Murphy.
Warriorfansnc93, Murphy's is also a good long range/mid range shooter and he's got some low post moves (which he couldn't demonstrate with Damp and Jamison clogging the paint). He's hardly one dimensional as it seems you are putting it. But I think he has the weight and know how when it comes to getting you extra posessions and making sure the other team doesn't have a second chance to score the ball. But I would love to have Kmart as well because he is defensive minded and extremely quick on the fast break. He can give you extra points and get that iso with Speedy Claxton and Jrich in the open court.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Rudeezy, you think Murphy is a good defender? </div> From what I can remember, I do believe he is a good defender, not great. He can block shots, not with the force that K-Mart does of coarse. He is also pretty quick for a PF with his size. I also agree with you on the point that he is not one demensional. He has a nice inside and out game.
One of my favorite things about Murphy is his recognition to drive, even as a big man. He's deceptively quick at getting to the basket. He seems to enjoy facing the basket more than having his back to the basket, and when he's hot he can hang around the circle and knock down a bunch. It helps a lot that he has good shot selection. He's flat-footed on defense, which actually is not always a bad thing. He simply tends to keep his feet on the floor, which leads to less blocks but he still can affect the release of the ball. Due to this tendency, he gets in much better position on rebounds (you can't really do much while flying in the air.) K-mart is much more of a leaper around the basket and will often go for the block, though that doesn't really hurt his rebounding because he has a good bounce/recovery. He's got a few solid inside moves and a mean streak, leading to some emphatic dunks and blocks. Since I don't watch the Nets enough though, I can't really say if I would rather put K-mart on the warriors over Murphy. It would certainly change the dynamic of the team, and if you were looking at price and value, I'd take Murphy, because he works well in the offense and has a great nose for rebounds. Without regard to the price, I'd probably give Martin a lot more consideration, though I'd need to scout him more.

On a side note, I love that one game where Cliff called Jermaine O'neil a bit--ass and they both got ejected. I loved that. That happened because Cliff was so good on D he frustrated Jermain O'neil into starting a fight with him.

I might have to ressurect that sig.
