For me, I like certain kinds of of songs/music, because it reminds me of my childhood (I'm so unique in that of course).

And because my parents were both HUGE squares in the 50's and 60's, most of the music I like (that fits this bill) is kind of square music.

For example, I like Mitch Miller, songs from Musicals (WSS, KMK, Music Man, etc) and some of the big band hits from the 40's and so on.

I ain't ashamed to admit it.

Oh and retro occult rock, where new bands sound like 70's rock bands and sing about worshipping Satan. That shit is so goofy but I love it.

I was in my nightlife peak during the whole "Swingers" era in LA. It was fucking beautiful. I still fucking love going to the Dresden Room and watching Marty and Elaine. Total lounge lizard shit. So dope.

My musical taste is not particularly embarrassing. I'm a child of the 60s, still love Beatles. My iPod contains the entire Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel collection, a ton of classical (esp. Beethoven), some classic rock albums and a miscellaneous playlist I call Rocks & Minerals, which includes a variety of pop, classic rock, folk and a few show tunes.

My parents listened to classical and jazz. My mother LOVED Harry Belafonte. And I also grew up on protest music, the union songs sung by Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger as well as civil rights anthems. When I was a child we listened to an album called something like Little Songs with Big Meanings - it was songs in simple language and rhythm to appeal to children with themes about rights and equality. My brother found the album and played it for his daughter! Lines like:
