Just read this. Tesla CEO Musk: Chinese EV firms will 'demolish' rivals without trade barriers But Chinese electric cars use a vastly better design to power their electric cars. A design that not only makes the cars faster to recharge but also much cheaper to buy. What is it? Battery swapping. Meaning you drive up to a gas station like battery station and instead of recharging the battery you have, it swaps out the low battery in your car for a fully charged 0ne. Takes one minute and you're on the road again. It takes the expensive of batteries out of the price of the car. This is the correct way to do this. Let's hope American-based electric car manufacturers switch to something like this instead of the current system we have now.
It's kind of funny, because Tesla kind of pioneered the idea of swapping batteries. Here is another take on swappable batteries. Same battery for car or e-scooter. 94 mile range on the car with 2 batteries.
Actually "Better Place" pioneered battery swapping. I remember seeing a demo of it in the early 2010s using some Renault converted cars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Place_(company)
