<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In 13 of their 30 losses this season, the Warriors have either led, been tied or trailed by two points or fewer with less than 1 minute, 50 seconds remaining.

So Warriors Coach Eric Musselman was asked if his team's inability to get over the hump was a fluke or a sign of something problematic. His team is coming off consecutive one-point losses to the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers.

``No excuses, we lost some games,'' Musselman said Saturday before the Warriors managed to win a close one -- 94-92 over Seattle. Friday against Portland, ``I don't know how many times Damon Stoudamire gets nine rebounds. There were bounces that didn't fall our way. Certainly defensively we did a nice job. Memphis is a good team and we lost to them in double-overtime. </div>

I think part of the problem is that the guards don't know where to stand for the long rebounds. They just sort of crowd the paint hoping it will go right to them. Also I noticed NVE running down court thinking he'd get a fastbreak on a long relay pass.

That was in response to Damon Stoudamire's rebounds.

The Warriors are losing all of these close games due to poor execution and no one willing to step up and be The Man. J-Rich showed that he is capable of that with his stellar play in the final minutes against Seattle.

Yea I agree, J-Rich is starting to try to take over and become the go to guy, instead of differing to NVE. I think that when the team gets to crunch time they always stand there watch NVE take the shots and are afraid to shoot it. The seattle was probably the first time I noticed J-rich really trying to take over a game at the end.

I think once Jrich gets in thet lane he's hard to stop because he's such a nice finisher. His midrange game has improved by a lot too. But now his 3 point game is pretty miserable and inconsistent.

He he hits a few 3 pointers he begins to rely too much on it. He is at his best going to the basket where he can finish as good as anybody. When the defense lays off, he can keep them honest with a 3 point basket.

Gotta remember that it's about shot selection. Rudeezy has a point; once they lay off JRich, he can pull the trigger with both feet set under him and doesn't have to rush it.

The problem with J-Rich is that after he makes one, he thinks he is Peja. If he developed a better shot selection he could really be lethal. This will come as he matures.

J Rich had to learn how to dribble first. He was awful for the first 2 years. This year he's a little better. Forget go to player, the Warriors need to have confidence in running their plays at the end of the game and not hesitating to take the shot, that means everyone on the floor, not just one player. It seems that Duncan hit all the big shots for the Spurs but that's just hype (he's a great player, maybe the best right now) Rose, Ginobili, Claxton, Jackson, Bowen, they all hit huge shots last year. Its a collective effort, not just one guy. Jordan, yes hit some huge shots, but think about the six years they won and there's Hodges, Paxon and Kerr hitting huge shots to win games. Its a team, not just one guy "taking over."

I know what you are saying Philsmith. But the Warriors don't even have one player willing to step up at the end of the game and take those shots. We can't get the whole team to step up at once...we must take baby steps and that is why we need J-Rich to step up and be that guy. Than hopefully others will follow.

I'm glad for Jrich for wanting to be the go to guy. Remember earlier in the season the press was saying that Jrich didn't want to be in Oakland anymore because Gil left.

i just think the warriors will get over that hump in time with experience. remember they are a rather young team my lacking some leadership from the players on the team. It will happen once they progress and get that necesary experience.

You know you're probably right. Experience allows you to anticipate what the other team will do. Get steals in the passing lanes. How to play certain players even if you're disadvantaged physically. How to get to the line more.
