There apparently is no love lost between him and Jersey head coach Scott, and the Nets showed last season they can win without Mutombo. Should a deal go down, it would spoil the reunion of Mutombo and Alonzo Mourning, the duo who menaced the inside together at Georgetown. </div> If we trade AD and Murray/JYD for him we better be getting more than just Mutombo.
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo no no no no ... AD & JYD/Murray for a ( almost 40 ) centre who can't even hold the ball ?? and on offence he's useless... just his defence .. but we can get more than that in JYD + AD ... trust me...Motombo is done .. he's done since SHAQ skooled his ass on the 2001 finals
i dont think we should go after him... but they aren't too many good centers/power forwards out there.
We already had a spin with a center who was living off of passed glory. I think that would be a bad trade for the Raptors. Here's a question though. Who would you trade AD and the JYD for?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-Ball215:</div><div class="quote_post">just trade jyd for him.</div>Mutombo makes around 17 million. JYD around 5. I hope we trade AD it will let Bosh develope faster. Mutombo's contract is 1 year shorter than AD's and Murray's and around 3 years shorter than JYD's. In 2005 when Mutombo's contract will expirer there are some very good free agents. Iverson, Kobe, T-mac, Rahim, Nash, Illgauskis, Eddy Curry(RFA), Chandler(RFA), J-Rich, Gary Payton, Gasol(RFA), Magloire, K-Mart, Marbury, Ray Allen, Kwame Brown, Glen Robinson and many other good players. I really hope we trade AD and JYD/Murray for Mutombo and some future picks and some young cheap players with lots of potential.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">You better hope this trade doesn't happen or you will be in the lottery again..</div>Okafor sounds good to me  maybe Howard to.
Okafor is a star in the making....whoever gets him will have a great future to win....I'm going to try and watch every unconn game this season and see how he does...
Lets say we trade JYD/Murray, AD for Mutombo and Nenad Krisist and or a future pick. Then we get Okafor or Howard. In 2005 we would have 20 million or so in cap space. There would be a bright bright future.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">You better hope this trade doesn't happen or you will be in the lottery again..</div> Very true, I think it would be stupid to pull off this trade. I would much rather have these players than have to give up next year. The main player out of those three I would like to keep is Lamond Murray, I'd rather have him starting that Morris "I take terrible shots" Peterson.
Getting great players through the draft lottery sounds great until you think that you have to put up with your team being terrible for at least that year. I know that you were just trying to be cute Kid Canada but I get shivers when I think of the Raptors tossing away the year for any reason. Personally I don't think that this trade makes the Raptors better right now and that's what counts. We do need a center. What about Predrag Drobnjak? Seatle has a bunch of Centers and this guy is productive, fairly cheap (I think) and has a really funny web site. Give them Mo Pete.
I would rather just start Michael Bradley at center, hes pretty big, and at the end of last season he proved he can play there. He played really well especially on the boards, I remember he had numerous 10+ rebounding games.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Half Man-Half Amazing:</div><div class="quote_post"> trust me...Motombo is done .. he's done since SHAQ skooled his ass on the 2001 finals</div> Mutombo played very well in those playoff and even better in the finals, where were you? I agree that he is past his prime. He can still be a solid backup in my opinion.
Giving Bradley a chance to play might be the way to go. Shaq would eat him alive but there aren't many people who can handle that guy anyway. Bradley and AD up front with the JYD off the bench wouldn't be a bad frontcourt. I still think that Toronto should get Drobnjak if just for the commercials he'd make there.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Plushlux:</div><div class="quote_post">If the Raptors make this trade it will send the wrong message to season seat holders...</div> That wouldn't be a problem, thats where the corporate companies come in
I would rather play Moiso at Center then Bradley. Moiso=Poor mans Ratliff. Bradley=A lesser Troy Murphy.
