    Ok, im sure that we will talk about this in the future so i thought why notstart it now.

    contenders for the award:
    KG - Boston is 1st in East with 26 - 3 record

    KB24 - LA is 5th in West (harder conference), 20 - 11 record

    Nash - 1st in West, 26 - 9, BUT he has teammates named STAT, TRIXX, Barbosa, Hill

    Dirk - 3rd in west 22 - 11

    LBJ - only player worth mentioning with his team not even over .500, LB is just statistically overqualified (referring to the 28 7 7 2 stls 1 block 1 3ptr he is putting up)

    Dwight - 3rd in East BUT with only a 22 - 13 record

    CP3 - 4th in west, 22 - 11 record (nah! too early for him IMO, not just yet)

    Other players not mentioned are just not making enough noise e.g. iverson, baron, etc yeah, they're good and also is their team but their performing below expectations.

    Say the season goes on and our play doesnt blow up like last year, and we do finish 5th in the west... do you guys think KB24 will get the MVP?

    He will probably have to go up against KG who has been instrumental with Boston's incredible record, and a far more loved player than KB24. Even though his feat is arguably easier than KB's with his teammates possessing names like Paul Pierce and Ray Allen LOL

    IMO Kobe SHOULD get it, why? besides from the cavs, who has the least talented supporting cast among the 6 players i've mentioned?
    KG has pierce and allen, nash has amare and trixx, cp3 has chandler west peja hard workers lol, dwight has rashard hedo nelson COOK LOL, dirk has jhow harris terry, these players are all more established than kobe's odom, walton, fisher, bynum, farmar, java, etc

    Thoughts?

    I don't see Kobe getting it this year. Yeah I'd love to see it, but let's be realistic and put ourselves in the minds of the voters:"KG!KG!KG!" It's almost obvious that either KG or Paul Pierce will get the MVP this year. It's more like the best player on the best team, rather than the most needed player.

    Guess who votes for MVP. He'll never get it if it remains status quo. I think the only real way he'll get it is if we are first in our conference and a top 3 seed.

    Too early for CP3? Is that the only thing unqualifying him?
    21/10 and 3 steals, with just 2.4 TO.

    I'd love to see him get one, but the field is a lot more competitive this year. Believe it or not, Steve Nash is actually putting up better numbers than he did when he won back to back MVPs. Plus you have Dwight Howard, KG, LeBron, Chris Paul, and possibly Brandon Roy in the race.

    Kobe should have won the MVP during his 81 point season. It was a dominating season by him and even though the Lakers didn't win 50 games they had to deal with several injuries to key players. I hate to say it, but Kobe might be the best player in the game who will never win the regular season MVP. However, I'd rather him hoist up the Finals MVP and add to his legacy.

    If the Lakers finish the season just as strong as they've started, then there is no reason for him not to be in the top 2 in voting. However, I don't see anybody beating KG.

    Wow, it's a tough call. The hard thing is, there can be multiple players putting up excellent performances and only 1 MVP is awarded where each player pretty much deserved it.

    I think your list is good. KG, Nash, Dwight, Dirk, LBJ, Kobe, CP3. CP3 and Dwight have been playing at a high level like these other guys, but unless its far beyond what the vets are putting up, the vets will get the award. So Dwight and CP3 are out.

    Dirk's numbers are down from his MVP year, and his team probably won't win as many wins. As well as the disappointing playoffs. He most likely won't get it.

    As much as Nash has been having a great season, and probably get a bunch of votes. 6'3 PGs are not meant to win 3 MVPs, 2 seemed like a stretch. I don't think there are many players with 3 MVPs, and if Nash didn't have any up until this season, he would have a better shot at winning one.

    So it pretty much boils down to KG, LBJ and Kobe. Actually Dwight's 22.4 ppg, on 60% FG%, 15.2 rpg and 2.7 bpg are pretty impressive.

    LBJ, Kobe, and Dwight have less talent in the starting line, while KG's team lacks depth. Kobe has the best coach.

    For these teams: a comparison of players
    LBJ = Kobe = D12

    Gibson = Fisher = Nelson
    Hughes = Odom = Rashard
    Big Z = Radmanovic = Turkoglu
    Varajao = Kwame = Foyle
    Gooden = Bynum = Cook
    Pavlovic = Walton = Bogans

    That would probably happen next year, when Kobe + Bynum become an even stronger force and Kerr dismantles the suns [IMG]
    If we gets 1st in the division then that is almost if not a guaranteed top 4 spot in the playoffs

    Yeah but, will the voters actually give the MVP to LBJ even if the cavs finish at exactly .500 and make the playoffs (easy to do this in the east)? i doubt it... coz' if that happens then Kobe was robbed for 2 straight years [IMG]

    Yeah Kobe does have the best coach, but Doc Rivers and Stan Van Gundy are pretty good coaches as well.

    BTW, if Kobe was scoring leader then Kobe and LBJ would go neck to neck BUT the cavs desperately need LBJ to produce. LBJ is averaging 2.2 more points than KB24 but is playing 3.2 mins longer than Kobe. That right there says a lot.

    Gibson = Fisher (should be JAVA but he lacks playing time [IMG] )= Nelson
    Hughes < Odom <Rashard
    Big Z = Radmanovic = Turkoglu
    Varajao = Kwame = Foyle
    Gooden = Bynum = Cook???
    Pavlovic = Walton or Ariza = Bogans
