So ive been busy working on designing/building a custom audio workstation desk for my studio. Had to finish up the wall behind it and them build the desk. Im almost done, just need to cut out a base plate for each rack in the bottom sections to bracket down the racks and then do the same with the top racks(brakes them down). Still a bunch of work to rack all the equipment up and wire it all together but im getting excited as its starting to take shape. Thought id share for the do it yourselfers out there who might appreciate such a project. Also. I have not done any woodworking since jr high wood shop. This was my first attempt and i think it is turning out better than i could have hoped.
While im in my picture vault ill share this. Had a branch fall from a tree and when cutting it back to the trunk it exposed God’s rot. Im going to try to cut a couple of one inch slabs off of this and see if i cant stain and gloss it. Thought this was pretty cool.
Is that a Washburn acoustic hanging on the wall? Ive had one for 51 years, bought at Days Music off Foster. I was 19.
I once took a Rorschach's test under the direction of a PhD Psychologist. All the pictures looked like they had blood. Well they were all screwy looking and had a lot of red in the middle.
i have one but not sure which one you are referencing. I also have a taylor and a fender and a few other acoustics.
Finally got it all put together. I still have some trim pieces i want to add so i have not foam padded all the corners yet. But i wont be adding those trim pieces until this summer when weather is better and i can do all the work outdoors. I fricken slaughtered my game room with sawdust..... but first session is today and i couldn't sleep in anticipation of hearing how the Neve preamps will sound. So stoked!!! But man I'm tired. this was an energy consuming project for sure. The cable routing and patching made me feel like i was back in school. And ive learned i dont have nearly enough patch bays to run an optimal system.... it never ends...... Any musicians interested in recording, hit me up. I will be recording a few sessions for free as i dial the new equipment in and get comfortable, then i will be looking to expand to bands and paid sessions.
Thanks, The window on the right side will look into a vocal booth, but i still need to build that room. The main window looks into the live/drum room. Or acoustic room. I still have alot of work to do in there. Probably gonna rip the ceiling out and expose the rafters and put baffles all over to help open it up. That wont happen until next year. The one thing my studio lacks is quality acoustics for drum recording. I can get a damn good sound, but its still not quite there like a large, tall ceiling room. Here is the main room :
