My first rant is to rail against corporate food chains who ask customers to round up the bill to go towards a charity or group in need.
You mean a multi billion dollar conglomerate of corporations like taco bel/pepsi cant round up the bill and donate from their end? They ask us blue collar, living paycheck to paycheck, citizens to donate more, so they can continue to maximize their greedy profits??
But if i say no thanks, I get dirty looks like im some uncaring selfish asshole?

Fuck off with the corporations asking me to round up. You round up, you filthy money mongering, selfish private jet flying rich bitches!!!

The rich guilting the poor to help the poor while the rich get richer????????????????

That shit needs to be removed. It should be illegal to ask(guilt) customers such a question.

    ~End Rant~

My beef is you have no idea where money is going. If they say Alameda County Food Bank, I know them, they are legit. But they just say fight hunger. Who actually gets the money?

I get what you are saying, but I can also just say over the drivethru mic, donate to Clackamas county food bank?
Still doesn't ensure the money will go there. We are talking about corporate heads who cant pay the round up on thier end because of their greed. I have no assurances the money goes where they say regardless of legitimacy of said foundation or not.

And they shouldn't be asking us to begin with. We meed to reverse guilt this selfish billionaires running these businesses like this.

I don't mind "rounding up" if it's like an actual charity based store (like the Kiwanis Thrift Store in Canby...I have no reason to doubt that money is going to what they say). But if it's like at FM or Safeway, I have little interest in doing it. Especially since the theory is they already made the donation and just want to re-coup it...and I don't know if they stop once they match their donation.

Curious. Why Canby Kiwanis thrift store example?

Fyi, Kiwanis isn't corporate. I have no issue with local chains or ma and pa stores asking. It’s the businesses tied to a large Corporate conglomerate that have no business asking the poor to match, while their ceos make record profits.

I went there on Friday, and they asked me to round up (granted, it was like 10 cents). It was fresh on my mind.

Wth were you doing there? My wife managed the place for a few years. She has been gone over a year and they still call her and ask for help. Lol.

My rant is about people buying cheap stuff at thrift stores and then jacking up the price 90x on ebay!

The machine asking for tips after you swipe your card at stores. I get tipping in the food industry and such but come on. I should tip someone now because they rung up my purchase?
