our WR core was decent this year, but know with the addition of TO its great. heres why Freddie-showed alot of promise to get open and make the catch, the one thing he doesnt have is the speed to break away, and the power to break tackles. hes an eccelent route runner and will be a very good number 2, i think like a darrell jackson of seatle. Greg Lewis-wow he is quick, hes the fastest player on the team, and i think one of the fastest in the league, he has hands, but now power. id love to see him get more time this year, because last year he caught everything thrown to him, even though it was like 8 passes, id like to see what he can do. McMullen-i dono, hes built like a TO, and has great hands, but is slow. i think he could be a good short pass guy because he def. has the power to break a tackle or 2, i think if he has a good camp he would be a good number 3(slot) guy. id expect 30-40 catches if he gets it. Pinky-sucks, skinny, decent speed, great leap, average hands, cant take a hit without dropping the ball and will make u 1 good play a game but hes a nooone the rest of the game. if a wr isnt focused in the champ. game and gets manhandled like he did, then that tells alot. id love to see him get cut but it wont happen because he just signed a new deal. thrash-is gone, i think he should stay because hes great on KO, and a average wr, but who would u let go instead. TO-speaks for himself Overall Grade-B
i would not put to much hope in freddie mitchell. This is a guy who could not crack starting lineup of james thrash and todd pinkston. If he was going to be good he would already be good, they should cut him and move on
BF1, your wrong, hes the only WR that gets open and holds on to the ball and takes hits. its not that he couldnt crack the starting lineup, its that he wasnt given the chance early on the year, and donavon didnt trust him untill around week 4 or 5, and that AR had to play pinky ahead because of his prior year and thrash was our go to guy and mcnabb really like him. not to mention we us a 3 WR set more than a 2 WR set so its not like he was the sub cuz he was basically a starter.
good recievers dont need 3 years to develop, backup recievers do. If he gave team a better chance to win he would have won job. He was a first round pick so he had a semi large contract and reid had no reason not to put him in. Bottom line: HE SUCKS. he will not catch 50 balls this year
thrash is a average number 2 WR, just he was put into a 1 spot and couldnt handle it. BF1, freddie started out his rookie year having problems to learn the offense, then he played and did ok. his second year, donavon didnt trust him and the brought in freeman, freddie barely got in, and pinky had a good year this past year he had the best year of our WRs. i promise you if hes healthy this year he will have 45+ catches and the guy that will line up across from him took 4 years untill he became a top WR like he is now.
i stand by what i said, TO had Jerry Rice in front of him completely different situation. Freddie might as well be DEAD. he will be just as useful to the eagles as a corpse
BF1, he was the only WR that could get open this year, i saw him open alot duing the first few games and he just wasnt getting the ball thrown to him. ill bet u he has 45+ catches if he gets named the numbe 2 WR, which he deserves to
he will break 100 catches next year. well for his career, probably he only needs 32, he started 6 games last year and still had very sucky numbers, expected for a very sucky reciever. I could dig up a corpse who could get open faster. really i can, how bout 3 years 10 million??
why do u hate the eagles? you obviously dont know anything about this team or you just like to say bad things about all our personel
If Freddie Mitchell was a good player he would have started for the Eagles last year...the teams biggest weakness was WR, Thrash is terrible and Pinkston is servicable....Freddie Mitchell might turn it around, the light might suddenly come on, but I doubt it, he looks like a bust as a 1st round WR....on a different note, how come someone disagreeing with you must be becuase hes an eagle basher?? did you ever stop to consider that he might have a point?
Freddie Mitchel is not a Super Star by any means, but he's a pretty good slot reciever. He can take a hit, and is pretty tough. Sometimes it takes time for a reciever to develop. Look at Jimmy Smith, a lot of teams had him before he became a star in Jacksonville. Sometimes, all you need is a chance, and I dont feel like FredEX ever got the chance. I think the reason is because his work ethic was lacking, and Big Red does not accept a player that gives less then 100%. Last year the work ethic was improved, and he improved. I expect good things from him. HEre's what I expect from our recievers and TE's next year (excluding backups) (catches - yards - TD's) WR: TO: 85 - 1100 - 15 Pinky: 60 - 800 - 7 Mitchell: 45 - 650 - 3 TE: LJ: 50 - 600 - 5 Chad: 20 - 300 - 2 As you can see, I expect McNabb to set a new career high with TD passes, with over 30. And I will be the the first to predict, that he'll be an MVP next year.
Mcnabb has all the abiltiy a QB needs to be an MVP, he does lack weapons. He has proven himself time and time again. I stuck up for him on other sites in past and continue to wish he played for bears. In fact offensively bears are similar now at WR position. thye have a really good reciever(BOOKER) and a first round bust (TERRELL). I think terrell will become superstar but i am probably(much like eagles fans with mithcell) wishing more than basing it on reality.
