Just play hard man. Play as hard and as good as you can. When you get the ball, take it to the hole, or pull it up for a jumper. Don't play timid on offnese and play your role the right way. If you are a point guard, have a "pass first" mentality. If you are a big man, do your post moves and get the ball in for a layup.Free throws are also key, which is kind of a problem for me since I am not too good at them.Defense is also really important. Play hard, but don't over do it and make dumb fouls or miss steals, leaving your teammates having to pick up your man as well.

Play agressive and be tough on the boards and show you really want and deserve to be on the team.

    - Prove that you have more heart out there than anyone else.
    - Never "take a break" on either offense or defense.
    - Play the very best defense you possibly can.
    - Be vocal with your teammates. Say "nice shot" etc.
    - Let people know when a screen is coming, if someone is behind them, etc.
    - Never second guess yourself and don't get nervous. Confidence is key.

EDIT: These tips are helpful, but at the end of the day it really boils down to this: play your hardest, show good sportsmanship, and be confident. If you don't make it, you don't make it. At the end of the day you should at least be satisfied with yourself and what you did.

If you play your best and hustle, the decision will take care of itself. Don't worry about "oh, did he like that?" or "damn, I messed up here." Just play your game.
