    Thanks Raptors [IMG]

You can have 1 top ten draft pick if you wish, but I want to hear 5 players that you wish to see in a Rockets uniform by next season.

    For me its,

    1)Peja Stojacovic?
    2)Shane Battier
    3)Al Harrington [IMG]
    4)James Posey
    5)Mike James

    HM: Antonio Davis

Keep in mind that the Rockets are looking to "overhaul the roster" this offseason. Maybe a KG?

Just wondering, I know this has been discussed before, but would you really prefer JR Smith over so many proven players in the league? I mean, there are so many players that do everything better than JR Smith. Pretty much you really want him here on the assumption and speculation that his game would be better.

Anyway, this thread is kinda vague, I'm tempted to close it (but whatever). Everyone can just end up picking a list of KG, Duncan, Nash, Wade, and so on. So from now on, if you put a superstar player there, you're going to need to explain it, how its possible, and how the ball distribution is going to work.

Well i don't know if we have to be reasonable to who we can get or who we just plain want. I want J.R. Smith for the simple fact we can get him cheap right now but if this thread were ne one on the fa market or trade market or just plain anyone my eyesite changes. but i forgot mo pete and he would definetly be on my list and 1.Mo Pete 2. Mike Miller 3.Drew Gooden 4. Andrea Bargini 5. J.R. Smith

    5. Caron Butler

My All-Uconn want list. Now here is list of realistic possibilities for the Rockets

    1. Mike Miller- A player I've always like. Good 3 pt shooter, and If I''m not mistaken, he was Mcgrady's best friend when they were on the Magic.
    2. Morris peterson- Another player I've always liked. Forget Mike James. If I had a choice of any Raptor to join the Rockets, it would be Mo Pete. I believe he would be a perfect choice as the 3rd option beside Yao and T-MAc.
    3. Raja Bell- Great 3pt shooter and defender. Hates Kobe Bryant
    4. Al Jefferson, Kendrick Perkins, Gerald Green or Ryan Gomes. The Celtics have a lot of yong players that I like. I would be happy if the Rockets could trade for one of these three.
    5. Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, or Kirk Hinrich. The Bulls have a lot of backcourt, but no offense on the frontcourt. We might be able to get one of their guards if we dangle Swift in front of them. I would like Gordon, but could settle for one of the other two.

I believe most of these players are realistic choices for the Rockets. Any one of them would be a first step in improving the Rockets TEAM.

Its a thread about players you wish to see in a Rockets uniform by next season.

I prefer everyone base it on the free agent market like I did. It has to be a possible move, we all know we aren't going to get Nash or Duncan here. KG or even AI are slightly possible, so if you really want them, you have to give up T-Mac or Yao. Plus you will have to explain how it will work, as Aznxballer said.

You may include someone from the draft.

Remember, Rockets are looking to "overhaul the roster" this offseason.

    New list:
1)Antonio Davis - Im sold on this kid, I like his defense and offensive capabilities. He can be that athletic guard we desperately need.

2)Bonzi Wells - A good fit in Houston, rebounding SF that plays defense. In case T-Mac does get injured again, he can start.

3)Al Harrington - Get rid of Swift, preferably Howard, and bring in this guy if there is a chance that we can steal him...go for it.

4)Shane Battier - He makes almost any team better, and is a FA this offseason. He can start or even come off the bench.

5)James Posey - If we can't get Davis, or Wells, than he is the next best thing imo. Athletic, rebounds, devends and can shoot.

Um, I think you meant Antonio Daniels. Davis is 38 years old. He is certainly not a kid. Plus, he's not even a guard. Daniels on the other hand, still isn't a kid. He's around 31 years old and to me, has played mediocre this season with the Wizards.

Battier signed a six-year extension last summer, so strike him off your lists. As for me:

    1) Matt Harpring - not an exceptional player at any position, but plays hard-nosed defense, hustles, and fits well on any team.

    2) Drew Gooden - PF with range, averaged 9 rebounds per both of the past two years, good low post game, good offensive rebounder. Defense is suspect, but would be an upgrade over Howard and Swift.

    3) Fred Jones - athletic, good shooter, quick, explosive. Just the remedy we need at shooting guard. Size could be a problem, though.

    4) Al Harrington - good defender at the four spot, versatile enough to play both forward spots. Has range up to 20 feet, great on the break. Guy who will give you 100% every game.

    5) Ruben Patterson - explosive on the break, top perimeter defender. No range and very combustile, however.

    Thanks for the correction.

I think he can be a better version of Mike James for us. Instant offense off the bench, and a good athletic defender with playoff experience.

I don't know about Ruben, but I like the idea of bringing in Fred Jones. Like you said though, the size could be a problem. And Matt Harpring is a pretty good shooter, I just wish he were more athletic. I prefer him more.

lets be realistic about it, were not the new york knicks... poeple like Peja, Posey and Al Harrington will coast too much and were already over the salary cap... we dont need anymore stars, we need good role players that can shoot the ball and play good defense. the only way we gonna get a big name player is if we we make a big trade, like trading howard or swift.

    My top 5 player
    *PG Mike James
    *PF/SF Vladimir Radmanovic
    *C Nazir Mohammed
    *PF Brian Cook
    *SG Eddie House

We really need to trade Howard. His contract is huge.

I don't understand how this salary cap thing works. All we have is one MLE, yet we have so may players going into FA.

Hayes, Bogans, Wesley are all FAs. (we might keep Bogans, Hayes)

We got rid of Barry, Clarence, Moochie and Bakers contracts. Sura and Deke might retire this off season, leaving us with:

    Rafer, Head
    (Bogans)
    T-Mac
    JH, SS, Hayes
    Yao

We are going to waive Bowen. How does that leave us with 8 players and only a MLE.

If we did waive Juwan and Swift, could we sign other players worth the same amount?

Some one care to explain this to me? Thanks in advance.

If you waive Bowen, that means you open up a roster spot, it doesn't really give you any cap space since his salary still counts on your roster. You can resign players, and if I'm correct, it doesn't take up the MLE.

Even though we probably won't, if we do waive Juwan or Swift, according to the rule above, their salaries still counts on our roster since we'd still have the pay them. Thus, its kinda pointless, since the only advantage would be opening up a roster spot to sign other players.

thats true!!!! u still pay them and there still gonna be in ur salary cap. the only way u get rid of them is to trade them to a team who is willing to take them with there big contract.

it will be much easier to trade howard then swift coz howard has only one more year on his big contract.

True, but teams might still try and get Swift based on his "potential" status. Either way you look at it though, they're both dead weight to us.

Do we have a shot at getting OJ Mayo in 2008 or 09?
