Oh boy this is tough. How much do you value defense? I'd rather have Billups on my team because he's kind of like a no-nonsense Sam Cassell...man this is tough. [IMG]

Hmm this is a really tough one, at first I said Nash, but not Im leaning towards Billups because he is a better defender..If you had to pick one and age was taken into consideration, obviously Billups would be the prudent choice, but eliminating that variable makes this a very tough decision..

So much for Nash being mvp. [IMG] I'm also picking Billups. He is a better 3 point shooter and defender than Nash and matches up better with Parker.

Nash is better at 3;s the Billups is. But I would still take Billups. Beteer defender and more clutch.

They are both very capable offense players. Both are great shooters, Billups is the better defender. Billups has the better team to work with and is doing pretty well at creating but Nash has just been a freak passer. Maintaning the League in apg for the 2nd straight year. He has given his teammates open looks off the defensive draw-in and is great at running the fastbreak. I'd pick Nash bc he can run the offense better.

And Billups hasn't been running the offense well? I believe Billups's assist/TO ratio is awesome as well. Billups runs a slower offense so naturally the scoring won't be as high though the Pistons have gotten up there at times this year.

I said that Billups was doing a good job and he does make very smart decisions with the ball. He is high up on apg also but just look what Nash is doing. He is making the guards around him better and getting them open looks. He has turned an otherwise dismal offense into the best in the League. That is an achievement. He has led a team that some people thought was down in the dumps to the 2nd seed in a tough division and the toughest conference.

Thats a tough choice. I will think about it more later but Nash is a better passer but Billups is a lot stronger and IMO has better defense. I would probably go with Billups but you can't argue with the defending MVP.

Good point BCB. Not to be too critical but Billups sometimes takes too many jumpers. Nash is a kind of funny offensive player bc if the defenders D him up too tightly he will find the open man but if they leave him open, he will burn you. He is a very efficient shooter and can take it hard to the basket.

i'll take Nash. Yeah sure, he plays poor defense, but no one in the league is better at offense, in terms of running a team. Who would you say has more talent, Detroit or Phoenix. I would say Detroit in a heartbeat, yet Steve Nash has kept his team in the hunt all year. If Nash is such a problem on the defensive end, then have someone else guard the PG, and have Nash guard a player that is less of an offensive threat. I know it's harder than it sounds, but it would be worth a try, and Nash creates a mismatch on the other end every game. Don't bring up the Phoenix Detroit game a few weeks ago bc Nash was just having an off-game, and Billups was hitting 27-29 footers. Billups' breakout had nothing to do with Nash's D, Billups was simply on fire.

I'd go with Billups as well. He's a proven winner. He's is probably the most clutch point gaurd in the nba. great assist to TO ratio(4.1). Has great size for a point guard at 6-3 and 202 pounds. thats way bigger than Nash. He's able to bully the oppisition on both sides of the court. Great Free throw shooter (90.4%). Better defender and i think a better rebounder as well.

Mainly the difference is Billup's defense compared to Nash. It isn't close. Billups has embarrased some of the best point guards in the league including Tony Parker who has owned pretty much everyone else except Billups this year.

No dude. Nash has the best court vision in the NBA by far. He is still pretty far ahead of Billups in terms of passing.

Yes Nash has great court vision and it even better with the athletes he has on the suns. Billups still does his share of finding people for shots so Billups has no real weaknesses. Nash though does.

Nash is also the greater offensive player. I'd say that Billups is sometimes excessive on the jumpers he takes. Nash can spread the ball around and also has that killer jumper. He can get inside qith his quickness too.
