We have DeRozan, Ross, Kleiza, Johnson, Forbes, Fields and Bayless looking for minutes at the 2/3. Forbes and Kleiza have to go.
Wasn't drafting Terrence Jones heavily predicated upon Nash signing? And Fields? Lol, talk about putting all your eggs in one basket. On another note, not having Nash in Toronto could be a plus. Rather than being a middle-of-the-pack playoff team, they can keep being a top 6 pick squad with a chance of building a really deep team with a chance at a top 5 pick for another year or two.
Looking at the bigger picture here, if the Raptors can't sign Steve Nash at the end of his career, can they ever sign a quality free agent? It seems like ya'll are a team that can only build through the draft or trade, and more often than not, your draft picks will inevitably leave for American teams. It just seems like a perennially bleek outlook for your team based on its location, which sucks because Toronto is an amazing city. It just doesn't seem like most NBA players see Toronto the same way. Maybe the advent of young Canadian talent will help the franchise down the road with guys like Joseph (Kris and Cory), Thompson, and Wiggins all on the rise.
