..I heard that Dallas wasn't looking to resign Nash at the end of the season. If so why?? Why wouldn't they want him?? Is there a reason? Does Nelly not like him or somethin?

Where did you hear this from?

The Mavs would be crazy to do this, he makes this team go.

I heard this when Nick was with them, but not now, definitely. If the show said that, its wrong. Nash is one of Nelly and Cuban's favorite players, a guy who blossomed right there in Dallas. He is the heart of the team, more so than Nowitzki or Finley.

"Once again I have to straighten you guys out" (Woody Paige)

Dallas is in trouble sallary cap wise (big shock eh?) and his contract will be up at the end of the season. Problem for Dallas is, Nash is one of the NBA's best point guards, so the mavericks won't be able to afford him. Nash has expressed interest in playing for his homeland Canada, which the Mavs did not like hearing very much. Teams are hesitant to trade for him now because the Mavs want size in return, and the team trading for him could end up losing him at the end of the season.

What oh what will Dallas do....

Why am I not surprised that of the three regulars Woody is your favorite [IMG] .

I don't care about their salary problems...fix it by dropping someone else. If they lose Nash, they will be headed in the wrong direction. Cuban is too smart for this.

Well, at least you didn't anoint Mariotti as a higher power. [IMG]

Now, back to business : KJ is right, Nash ruffled a few feathers in Maverick land with his outspoken interest in returning to the north, and the Mavs are also in a perilous position right now concerning the cap. They have too many big $ ballers on that team with Nowitzki, Finley, Walker, Nash and Jamison. Somebody will have to go, maybe somebody(s). I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Nash leave, though I would expect Cuban to focus his efforts on figuring out a way to retain him somehow. Finley or Jamison would be the logical fall guys when the swinging axe of the salary cap drops.

PS - Michael Holly is the man.

I agree with OG, that Finley or Jamison could be the fall guys, especially now that Josh Howard is emerging. But don't expect Cuban to let Nash get away. Although the Raptors are probably salivating at the thought of Nash playing alongside Carter and Bosh, they don't have what it takes for a trade to happen now, and Dallas will probably find a way to pay Nash before he gets away from them at season's end.

And if the Mavs win this year, Nash leaving is out of the question...

Nine times out of ten Cuban, will trade away Walker or Jasmison to get out of the cap and resign Nash. For somereason I dont see this Dallas team we are seing now after ASB.

Nash and Nowitzki are the cornerstones of the franchise...anyone else is expendable...
