    RIP

Wow, I thought she would be fine. They said that after the accident she got up and was walking around, it took her like an hour after the fall before she even complained of a headache.

I'm in utter shock right now...

A few weeks ago my brother broke his ankle and collar bone snowboarding at the same resort, but he wasn't on the freaking bunny hill.

I was reading an article yesterday that the fall just triggered a brain anyuerism (sp).

That makes sense. They can sit there dormant for a long time, but take a bump in just the right spot and you are suddenly bleeding into the brain.

Very sad. I understand her kids are pretty young (under 15?).

Indeed. RIP. I actually saw her on Broadway a few years back. She was a shinning star...

It has been reported that she wasn't wearing a helmet, and the fall was severe enough that the instructor called the ski patrol to check her out. I am what would be considered an expert skier (wife and I raced in college and I ski anywhere on a mountain now), and my ski friends, wife, and I all wear helmets. When I see a gaper working their way down the hill, I make a point to suggest they wear a helmet if I end up on a lift with them. I witnessed a terrible accident and was the first on the scene when a young man died after hitting a tree with the back of his head years ago. The "CRACK" I heard is something that sticks with me to this day.

    Just wear an effing helmet.
