<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Thankful for the unwavering support he's received from Bears fans, Nathan Vasher has found an incredibly generous and unique way to show his gratitude.Having been selected to his first Pro Bowl, the second-year cornerback has decided to take two lucky fans with him to the Feb. 12 all-star game in Hawaii.Bears cornerback Nathan Vasher has 13 interceptions in 32 career NFL games.Dipping into his own pocket, Vasher will provide a fan and a guest roundtrip airline tickets, four nights in a luxury hotel and two tickets to the Pro Bowl game. The winner, who will be chosen in a random drawing Feb. 2, will also dine with the cornerback in Hawaii. With fans accounting for one-third of the vote (along with NFL players and coaches), Vasher knows that he would have had a difficult time making the Pro Bowl without their support."It's just a way for me to show the fans how much I appreciate them," he said. "There's no way I could have had an opportunity to go to the Pro Bowl if it wasn't for their votes."It's just a way for me to get a chance to hang out with a couple of them and have a good time out there in Hawaii."It was really important to me to show the fans how important they are."Fans can enter to win the trip by listening to The Mike North Show weekday mornings beginning Monday on WSCR 670 AM. Listeners will be entered into the drawing by calling into "The Score" when they hear a game highlight that features Vasher. The winner of the contest will then be chosen on the air next Thursday in the 9 a.m. hour.Vasher isn't sure how much the trip will cost him, but he feels that it's money well spent."I haven't really done the figures on it," he said, "but whatever it is, I'll be more than willing to do it. We're going to go out there and have a good time. I saved up and we can do it."Nathan Vasher's hula dance after an interception Nov. 20 against Carolina was a prelude to his first trip to the Pro Bowl.Vasher earned his first Pro Bowl invitation after finishing second in the NFC and tied for third in the NFL with a career-high eight interceptions. The only Bears player to intercept more passes in a season since 1964 was safety Mark Carrier, who set a team record with 10 picks in 1990.Vasher also set a record for the longest play in NFL history, returning a missed field goal 108 yards for a touchdown in a 17-9 win over the 49ers Nov. 13 at Soldier Field. Not surprisingly, that play is the one that fans most often want to discuss when they meet Vasher, who is amazed about how passionate people are about the team he plays for."I think they're the greatest fans in the league," Vasher said. "Whether I'm at the grocery store or walking down the street, people are just really excited about the Chicago Bears."That makes me feel good. As a team, it gives us all the confidence in the world that you have people that believe in you and are very optimistic every year that you can go to the Super Bowl."Athletes have thanked their fans by placing newspaper ads and by conducting press conferences, but Vasher believes he may be the first one to give away a trip to the Pro Bowl."That's the thing that makes it unique," he said. "I don't think any athlete has gone to these lengths to show the fans this kind of appreciation and this kind of gratitude. It's important to me and I look forward to seeing who's going to win and how it's all going to work out."</div> http://www.chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=13951

While I won't say he's not a good guy, you can't judge that he is a good guy because he decided to spend 1/300th of the money he makes to make a couple of people happy. Sure it's a nice thing; but my point is that you shouldn't judge that he's a good person over him spending a couple thousand bucks or so out of whatever he makes.

That's a cool thing for him to do. I wish I was one of the lucky two, that'd make my day. Well, hopefully he can put on a good show, and have a nice pro-bowl, maybe pick off a pass.
