https://news.abplive.com/lifestyle/...10-all-you-need-to-know-about-the-day-1536528 National Herbs and Spices Day is celebrated every year on June 10 with pomp and show particularly in the US. National Herbs and Spices Day was first officially celebrated in the year 2015 recognising the diversity and quality offered by both fresh and dried herbs and spices. Every year many households in the US cook extra spicy food and plant some herbs in the kitchen garden as a mark of respect for Herbs and Spices Day. The use of spices and herbs dates back thousands of years in history and its use is common in every household in India for centuries. Spices like cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric and pepper originated in India, after which a variety of other species were introduced by the use of these basic spices. This day is meant to spread awareness about spices and herbs and since it's scorching summer here is a list of herbs and spices that can be beneficial to beat the summer heat. I remember @SlyPokerDog once telling me about Penzey's. I might have to check them out and support the day. They have a store in Memphis, not Nashville, though. https://www.penzeys.com/

Don't support them, they don't support you. https://thefederalist.com/2022/01/3...acist-then-lost-40000-customers-in-two-weeks/
That would be funny. https://www.latimes.com/politics/st...-on-facebook-ads-supporting-trump-impeachment Mixing politics and parsley: Why this spice seller spent $700,000-plus on Facebook ads for Trump’s impeachment
I'm just going to drink a Dr. Pepper and call it good. Or wait, is KFC the one with the herbs and spices? How do I celebrate this major holiday?!
I got turned on to Penzeys long before they became political. I told @ABM about them back on our oregonlive days. There is a big difference in the spices you buy in the grocery store and spices you buy from a spice store. That was why I recommend them. If there is another specialty spice store that you know of if you don't like Penzeys politics I encourage you to try it. Spices are one of the most cherished and sought-after items in human history. I actually remember that discussion with @ABM, he was making his own BBQ rub. He was buying spices out of the bulk bins at Winco. I was just saying that he should get those same spices from Penzeys. I was making that suggestion not because of politics. Anyway, using grocery store-bought spices is like claiming you're a coffee expert and only buying Folgers. I love and use the shit out of their Chicago Steakhouse Seasoning. https://www.penzeys.com/online-catalog/chicago-steak-seasoning/c-24/p-658/pd-s But if you like to make your own spice mixes again, make those mixes with higher-quality spices.
My wife has bought them at the 82nd store. I told her I was suspicious of that business selling just spices as their building is attached to a cremation service company with the oven out back. I told her not to tell me when she uses those spices.
Agreed, That bulk stuff is crap. As an aside, I had to laugh at BLAZER PROPHET because he and his wife were so frugal. For example, if a recipe called for 2 TBS of oregano, she'd actually measure out 2 TBS. oregenao from the WINCO bulk section and buy just that. For all intents and purposes. they didn't have jars of herbs and spices in their kitchen cabinet. Here's that rub recipe we were discussing. It's outsanding. 1/2 Cup paprika 3 Tbs. cayenne pepper (or less to suit) 5 Tbs. freshly ground black pepper 6 Tbs. garlic powder 3 Tbs. onion powder 6 Tbs. salt 2 1/2 Tbs. dried oregano 2 1/2 Tbs. dried thyme Directions: In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients. Mix well and store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. Rub on beef, chicken or pork at least 30 minutes before cooking or grilling.
I just weeded my mint patch and my 3 variety parsley bed as well as the new crop of cilantro...what I wish I could grow up here is basil but it doesn't produce like it should here. Bolts too quickly
