Nazr Mohammed to Replace Chandler in Starting Lineup?

Nazr Mohammed started this season as Charlotte's third-string center. But he's put up some efficient offensive numbers, and his PER of 24.90 ranks him third amongst centers and 12th in the entire league. He's now the first center off the bench to spell Tyson Chandler.

If he keeps up his play, is there a chance he'll be promoted to the starting rotation? ESPN's John Hollinger investigates:

"The Bobcats' long-forgotten third-string center has moved up to second on the depth chart and might be first before long if he continues playing so well. Mohammed is averaging 22.1 points per 40 minutes and is shooting 58.5 percent from the floor -- one season after shooting 40.6 percent and falling out of the rotation -- and the two games in which he played more than 20 minutes (wins over the Cavaliers and Nuggets) were the Bobcats' two best outings of the season. Despite an awkward jumper and a lack of elevation, Mohammed has always been more productive at the offensive end than his rep suggested -- check out those annual PERs in the 15s and 16s prior to last season. His slow feet and lack of shot-blocking make him a liability on D, but that's irrelevant if he keeps playing this well offensively. "
