For the Spurs, not only did the clear $21 million in long term salary, they got another legit center in Mohammed -- something the team felt the desperately needed.

Amazing deal..Zazr is a very respectable center...I can't believe RC pulled this one off.

Sad to see Malik leave, he did alot for the city of San Antonio..I will never forget when we played ball two summers ago Malik. Thanks for everything.

The Spurs are really lucky to be able to pull this one. Mohammed would probably start ahead of Nesterovic, and thus it would give the Spurs possibly the best backup center in the whole league. Add in Robert Horry and Massenburg, and the Spurs possibly have the best frontcourt in the whole league. Now San Antonio gets an even better chance to win the title.

Great deal for Spurs. Mohammed is a nice hustle and body banging center- a definite upgrade over Rose. In addition to that, I think he is a better low post prescence than Nesterovic and might even start over him. I think he was totally worth the first round pick since San Antonio will be making a championship run and the draft doesn't really mean anything to them. Good Job.

Was it two first round picks?!? If that was the case then the Spurs got a bit ripped off. For two first round picks they might have been able to get much more in return. If this move bring two consequtive championships, then giving up the picks was justified.

It was one first rounder. The other one was reported wrongly by ESPN, and the Knicks forum.

Nazr is a very good player in the right system. He started off this season very strong, up until the coaching change. He will end up being the starting center for the Spurs, because Rasho will never get it done when it counts, point blank.

Neither will Nazr. You probably haven't noticed but against decent centers Nazr hasnt done to well. And im not sure how well he will do without the Mcguire Workout.

FORGET the draft picks! We don't need them. That's why they were sent.

We have Devin Brown to resign,

We have Luis Scola to sign.

    We have Linton Johnson.

We have Romain Sato (who will be resigned).

    We have Beno.

We have the young talent. What will late round drafts give us? Just more players on an already young squad. We don't need to bbuild up on talent like the past few years.

We have every position set for the next few years:

    Tony/Beno/2nd Backup

    Manu/Brent/Devin

    Bowen/Linton/Sato

    Tim/Scola/Nazr

    Rasho/Nazr

Not to mention the International players we have overseas right now.

    Robertas Javtokas
    Viktor Sanikidze
    Sergei Karaulov

Also, I believe we still have a first round draft pick this summer. We only gave New York our Phoenix pick, the pick they gave us. So we still have our pick.

Good deal for the Spurs. Mohammed and Nesterovic will be an exceptional rotation at C, which will be vital come playoff time. It will add depth to their front court and make them an even better team. With Tim Duncan's presence Nazr Mohammed could really improve.

Nazr also hasn't played with a guy like Tim Duncan before. His life will be so much more easier with Timmy by his side. I mean c'mon 11 and 8 numbers are very good and far better than what Rasho can do.

I have no idea what the Knicks were thinking when they made this deal.

Not only do the Spurs get a center who can produce but they also clear over 21 million worth of future salary

The knicks needed the picks, either that or they vehemently think that Rose can be a very good player for them.

All said and done, wow, are the Spurs in great condition or what.

This is such a great deal for the Spurs that it's not even funny. Their inside rotation becomes Duncan - Rasho - Horry - Nazr, wow, they're just solidifying their championship chances.

Malik Rose is another big contract to the Knicks, and also another PF, and all that just for a #30 pick? Pretty stupid if you ask me.

This deal was a win-win for the Spurs. They get rid of Malik Rose's contract and in the same process end up with Nazr Mohammed. All they had to really give up was a 1st round pick that would have been pretty low.

Now they have a front court that boasts two centres that could be starters on any team in the East (Mohammed and Nesterovic) and get rid of one of their bloated contracts.

Besides maybe Orlando, Pacers and maybe the Hornets, I dont see what team would start him over there current center. But maybe he will benefit from from Duncan on the court.
Is Nesterovic not benefiting from his presence or is he just that bad.
