SOURCE: CBS Sports http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/10977659 What do you guys think of the rankings? At first glance I'd say Shaq, Camby and Jermaine O'Neal are too high, with Chandler and Biedrins too low
They might want to consider putting Al Jefferson on there. He'll be playing center most of the time, now that we have Love instead of OJ Mayo. Yes I'm still bitching about it.
Shaq at #4? I'm not sure I'd have him in the top 10 at this point. I think Kaman isn't getting much credit for the season he had. He's was playing like a borderline All-Star last season, before the injuries caught up with him. I'd also included Joel Pryzbilla on the list.
I think Bynum is right where he deserves to be. I don't see him passing Yao next season, if it's just for the sole fact that he won't get the touches Yao will. As for the list....eh. I don't like Shaq at #4. He's been pretty awful the past few seasons and I don't know if I'd put him in the top 10. I know for a fact that Chris Kaman deserves to be higher. I'd also look in to putting Okafor higher on the list, and I'm not overly sure about Oden being higher than Kaman, Okafor, Chandler, and maybe even Horford. The kid hasn't even played a legit NBA game and they're already calling him a top 10 center in the league? I realize he's dripping with potential, but I don't know if he should be in the top 10 before doing anything.
Shaq should be lower and if we'er going on what they've done so far, Bynum and his less than 1/2 a season of good play should be too. But Since Oden and his zero games played is on the list, I think he's about right. Andrew Bogut quietly had a decent year last year and if he keeps it up could go higher. I'd rather have him than Dalembert. Al Jefferson Should be on that list and should be top 10 easily next year too.
I seriously don't understand how Shaq is at #4. Jermaine O'neal at #7? What has he done lately? Chandler is far better than O'neal at this point
4. Shaquille O'Neal, Phoenix: Sure, he has slowed considerably. He is not as hungry anymore, but he still is a dominating presence around the basket. He is counting down the days to retirement, but if Shaq takes his conditioning seriously, the Suns will give him a chance to add one more championship ring before he leaves the game. And that could motivate him this season. 5. Marcus Camby, Los Angeles Clippers: It's hard to ask for anything more than 13.1 rebounds and 3.6 blocks a game from a center, which still makes Camby valuable, even if Denver didn't want him anymore. From a fantasy perspective, his value will go down when he has to share the lane with Chris Kaman. Together, they should give the Clips a defensive presence. 6. Rasheed Wallace, Detroit: Yes, he's a strange dude, but it's hard to fault his skill set. He can guard the big guys inside, then cause serious matchup problems at the other end with his long-range shooting. He gave Howard and the Magic fits in the playoffs last spring, but he also gives his teammates fits. 7. Jermaine O'Neal, Toronto: Life soured in Indiana, but the move to Toronto should revitalize his career. His presence will allow Chris Bosh to move to power forward, giving the Raptors a nice frontcourt. Remember, O'Neal once averaged 20/10 in back-to-back seasons. And he is only 29 years old, hoping to regain the status he once had. The all washed up list? Sheed's better at PF
Well duh, Yao's gonna miss 20+ games. If Yao plays 70+ games then he will be better than Bynum. Homerish, totally. Possible, absolutely
Andris Biedrins deserves to be a little higher. Bynum was also dominant for one month. We don't know how consistent he will be. He is still raw, young, and has loads of potential. It'll be interesting to see how he plays this season after the surgery.
I agree about Biedrins, and that actually is a great argument about Bynum. He has all the potential in the world no doubt, but we have only seen him play well for a short amount of time. Maybe not worthy of a #3 rating. I'm a huge fan of Chandler too, so I think he should be higher
