After my first semester in college I've begun to realize my true passion in life, basketball, needs to have something to do with my choice of major. After talking to a lot of my friends and my dad, I realized I would really enjoy being a commentator for NBA games (more specifically Houston Rocket games, or college-Texas Tech games). I was wondering what the reality of this could be, the pay and such. Whether its for TV or radio I honestly don't care. Any help with this field that any of you have would really be appreciated!

I do not know about commentating however, other basketball jobs such as GM's and coaching, are much easier if you are a player first. The coach (Iron Shiek) gave me some good advice. The best thing you could possibly do is try and get a mentorship whether it's with the Houston Rockets, or comets, or even an ABA, or CBA team. Or try and attend a sports broadcasting camp, or semetar. I have attende arguably the best sports broadcasting camp in the country, Scholastic Play by Play camp, along with The Hogg. I have also been to sematars or whatever they are called. They were great experiences.
