MVP:
Steve Nash

Kevin Garnett would get it if you base it purely on numbers. But Nash gets it based on team's performance and ability to elevate the team's level of play.

Defensive Player:
Tim Duncan

The defensive hub of the best defensive team of the last 5 years. The Spurs are giving up barely 85 points a game so far this season.

Rookie of the Year:
Emeka Okafor

Lots of potential stars in this year's rookie class, but this one has carried this greatest load so far this season. He deserves ROY honors.

6th Man:
Vladimir Radmonovic

He provides exactly what you want from a 6th man. He'd probably be starting for 20+ other teams in the league.

Most Improved Player:
Bobby Simmons

This is a tough one to pick, since there are so many improved players this year. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade have lightyears ahead of where they were last year. Ridnour has made himself into a solid point guard for a very good Seattle team. Larry Hughes has become a legitimate allstar. Staudemire and Nowitzki are now MVP candidates. Any one of them would be good choices, in my opinion, but I'll go with Bobby Simmons. I don't have a particularly good reason. I think the Clippers deserve SOMETHING for their improved play this season, and since they probably won't make the playoff or be represented in All-star weekend, this award will have to suffice.

All NBA 1st Team:
C - Shaquille O'neal
F - Tim Duncan
F - Kevin Garnett
G - Dwayne Wade
G - Steve Nash

Shaq, Duncan, and Nash were automatic choices. Choosing between Garnett, Nowitzki, and LeBron for that other forward position was tough, but Garnett's numbers are so other-worldly that I had to put him include him on the first team. It was also tough choosing between Wade, Kobe, and Ray Allen. Ray Allen is a star on one of the top 4 teams in the league, and he's been playing fantastic team basketball this season. Kobe is doing it all in LA (for good or bad). And Wade has been sensational for the #1 team in the East. I picked Wade because I think he's a better player individually then Ray Allen and his team is doing much better than Kobe's.

All NBA 2nd Team:
C - Amare Stoudemire
F - Dirk Nowitzki
F - LeBron James
G - Kobe Bryant
G - Ray Allen

This was easy to choose after getting the first team out of the way. Basically, the first two all-NBA team constitute all the MVP candidates from the first half of the season.

All NBA 3rd Team:
C - Yao Ming
F - Chris Webber
F - Tracy McGrady
G - Allen Iverson
G - Larry Hughes

C-Web, T-Mac, and AI were locks to make this team. If O'neal didn't get involved in the Detroit fracas and miss so many games, I would have put him ahead of McGrady. Iverson is quietly having his best season in years. Hughes has been magnificent, but since he'll miss most of the second half of the season, he probably won't be considered at the end of the year. I'd replace him with Francis. I chose Yao over Ben Wallace. It's essentially choosing between good offense and good defense, and the tie-breaker for me was Wallace's role in starting the Detroit brawl.

All Defensive Team
C - Ben Wallace
F - Tim Duncan
F - Andrei Kirilenko
G - Manu Ginobili
G - Larry Hughes

Wallace and Duncan are locks. Hughes gets in because he led the league in steals. Ginobili is a fantastic defensive guard on the Spurs (I believe Bowen is listed as a forward). Kirilenko leads the league in blocks, despite missing so many games.

Rookie Team:
Emeka Okafor
Dwight Howard
Luol Deng
Devin Harris
Ben Gordon

Not much to say about this.

Coach of the Year
Nate McMillan

It's basically between McMillan, D'Antoni, Skiles, and Eddie Jordan in my opinion. The Cav's improvement can mostly be attributed to LeBron; the Heat's improvement can mostly be attributed to Shaq. Since Seattle and Phoenix are the biggest surprises, record-wise, I'll narrow it down further to those teams. I think Nash has more to do with Phoenix's success than anyone (though give credit to D'Antoni for recognizing the type of role Nash should have on the team). So, that leaves McMillan.

MVP:
Tim Duncan

Has led the Spurs to the best record in the NBA despite playing less minutes.

Defensive Player:
Shawn Marion

The Matrix is bringing it every game defensively with 10.8 Rebs, 2.1 Stls, & 1.6 Blks, while playing out of position. He's the only player in the top 10 for each category.

Rookie of the Year:
Emeka Okafor

Broke the rookie record for consecutive double doubles in a game. His total is now at 26 for the season.

6th Man:
Vladimir Radmonovic

Quote:

He provides exactly what you want from a 6th man. He'd probably be starting for 20+ other teams in the league.
Well said Durvasa.

Most Improved Player:
Amare Stoudemire

There are a lot of choices here, but Amare Stoudemire has elevated his game to MVP status. A lot of players have had better seasons because their playing time has increased, but Amare is playing the same amount of minutes as last year, but has improved his scoring average by 5 points, and his FG% is up from 47% to 57%.

All NBA 1st Team:
C - Shaquille O'neal
F - Tim Duncan
F - Kevin Garnett
G - Ray Allen
G - Steve Nash

Shaq and Duncan were no brainers. It was tough leaving LeBron, Nowitzki, Kobe, Iverson, and Stoudemire off this list, but these 5 players have been consistent all season long.

All NBA 2nd Team:
C - Amare Stoudemire
F - Dirk Nowitzki
F - LeBron James
G - Kobe Bryant
G - Allen Iverson

The players that didn't make the list for NBA 1st Team make it to the 2nd Team.

All Defensive Team
C - Tim Duncan
F - Shawn Marion
F - Andrei Kirilenko
G - LeBron James
G - Bruce Bowen

Tim Duncan is a lock, Matrix, AK47, and LeBron James get you defensive stats in the 3 major categories and have to defend the toughest positions in the league every night. Bruce Bowen doesn't get you a lot of stats, but he's like the Deion Sanders of defenders. He's the shutdown defender for the Spurs.

Rookie Team:
Emeka Okafor
Dwight Howard
Luol Deng
Devin Harris
Ben Gordon

Al Jefferson is right on the cusp of making this team.

Coach of the Year
Nate McMillan

You can go a lot of directions with this pick. The Suns, Sonics, Wizards, and Cavs have all improved significantly. It's hard for me to choose a coach coming from the East, because the lack of strength in the conferences is apparent. This eliminates Silas and Jordan. The Suns reloaded in the off-season with the likes of Nash and Q Richardson, where as the Sonics lineup is basically the same as last year. You have to like the patience of Nate McMillain putting this team together and finding a way to win without any post threats.

Why do you have Ray Allen on the first team Shapecity? I mean yes he might get some considerations because of how his team is doing, and the reason his team is doing so well is because off the supporting cast(Shard,Vladamivich). Anyway that's my opinion, I think Lebron is the best candidate to replace him, then AI. And as for the rookies I don't think Devin Harris belongs there, Andre Iguodala has better number in EVERY category. Better points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, field goal%. Anyway just my opinion

The main reason is because LeBron is playing the forward position this year. As for Iguodala over Harris, the same reasoning applies, because Iguodala is a forward. If I had to add another forward, I would actually choose Al Jefferson ahead of Iguodala.

As for the stat comparison, it's not fair to just look at those numbers. Iguodala plays twice as many minutes per game than Devin Harris. However, Harris has found a way to play in the crunchtime of games for the Mavs, despite being 3rd in the rotation behind Terry and Armstrong.

Look at what hes done for the Suns, and look what the Suns did without him. Plus hes Canadian, so he gets the nod from me.

Defensive Player:
Ben Wallace

Need I Explain?

Rookie of the Year:
Emeka Okafor

Hes been really solid posting double doubles on a crappy team.

6th Man:
Jalen Rose

Hes been stepping it up ever since he was sent to the bench, i thinks hes averaging about 17ppg, and hes been Mr. 4th quarter for the Raptors, and Mr. Clutch

Most Improved Player:
Bobby Simmons

Just been playing really well and making the best of his situation.

MVP: Tim Duncan No one has dominated as consistently this season as he has. He is averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds, and just shy of three assists. His minutes have also decreased so he is performing better.

Defensive Player: Bruce Bowen It is time he finally gets what he deserves, the defensive player of the year award. He has grabbed nearly three rebounds a game on the defensive glass coming off the bench as a guard. Plus there is no shut down man like him out there.

Rookie of the Year: Emeka Okafor He is averaging 15.3 points, and 11 boards, what else do I have to say?

Most Improved: Bobby Simmons His scoring average has increased eight points from last year since being placed in a starting role, and his rebounds have shot up two per game.

Sixth Man of the Year: Danny fortson He is only playing 18 minutes a game but his big bruising body allows him to pull down six rebounds a game. He works down low to score 9.3 points per game. He is one of the most valuable players to his team.

MVP: Lebron James, he has improved so much in the last year to the point that it's unbeleivable. I chose him based on his numbers and the sole fact that Cleveland would be one of the worst teams in the leauge without James. He just brings so much to the team other than scoring. Like leadership and the ability to involve all his teammates in the ofense.

Defensive Player: Bruce Bowen, he just shuts players down as simple as that.

Rookie of the Year: Emaka Okafor, easy choice when comparing his numbers with the other rookies.

Most improved: Bonny Simmons, same reasons S.Livingston14 posted.

Sixth Man: Radmonovich, simply because he can pour in the points from beyond the arch.

Coach of the year: Nate McMillan
