So what did you guys think of the first episode of the new season yesterday?

I loved it, it was full of action and answered enough questions that I didn't walk away feeling LOSTed.

It looks like Molly is going to be a big player this season and I'm glad they introduced some new characters (Maya and her brother).

The Burnett clan was interesting; Claire has to deny her true self and unknownly met someone 'special'. Creepy Dad lived up to his name (that scene with the finger was awesome).

Nathan, wow, I like where they're taking his character. Hiro's still holding it down and provides a nice break for the current timeline (a great way to ensure screen time) and Oh-my-gawd Peter is alive and kicking!

Can't wait for next week, so what's your thoughts?

    I didn't like it.

I thought it was very predictable especially the end with "I don't know who I am" angle. It had its moments but I was very dissapointed.

Maybe only predictable to Super GM3! I'm no Super Hero, but I enjoyed it!

Not as much as any episode from season 1 though.

    Hmm,

what you call predicatable, I call delivering on their foreshadowing. I would have been pissed if things weren't addressed in this first episode. You had to know that they where going to tie up some loose ends to start the season based on the way last season ended.

The thing that has me juiced is Molly's "worse than the boggeyman".

    "I can see you".

Also the delevopment of the old timers getting killed is a great angle.

    Re: Heroes

The whole Peter with amnesia thing has been done to death I saw it coming as soon as I didn't see him in the first 30 minutes.

The parents getting killed thing was corny as hell, they could have done better.

Also, I already know who Kenzei is, its so obvious which killed the storyline for me. Oh and practically no Sylar? whats with that?

The only saving graces were Claire and Parkman.

And when the hell are we going to see Kristen Bell?

Next time you find the conversation dragging try adding the phrase "this blank could use a little more Sylar!", as in this thread could use a little more Sylar! Not everyone will know what you're talking about but those you do should instantly become one of your soulmates.

    I tried it yesterday at an editoral meeting. Just out of the blue after a tense moment blurted out, "this meeting could use a little more Sylar", then motioned like I was moving something with my mind. The place got a lot looser after that and the cute girl across the table flashed me a smile. Which leads me to today question;

What exactly is Sylar's power and how does it work?

He knows how to fix things? He knows how things work by looking at them? He eats brains and absorbs power?

The producers have said thats his power, they can't say it on TV or show it because its too violent but thats it.

    Re: Heroes

    This is from Heroeswiki;

Sylar's original power is intuitive aptitude — a superhuman ability to determine exactly how things work.

Sylar appears to have used his innate power to discover how to take the superpowers of other evolved humans. The exact mechanism by which Sylar gains these powers is not at present known; however, he believes that Chandra Suresh is correct that the abilities are based in the brain, and several of Sylar's victims have had their skulls opened and brains removed.

[edit] Acquired Powers

Sylar has acquired a number of powers. In order, Sylar has acquired:

[*]Telekinesis from Brian Davis. (Six Months Ago)
[*]Cryokinesis from an unknown victim. (First seen in Don't Look Back)
[*]Enhanced memory from Charlie Andrews. (Seven Minutes to Midnight)
    [*]Liquefaction from Zane Taylor. (Run!)
[*]Enhanced hearing from Dale Smither. (Unexpected)
    [*]Precognition from Isaac Mendez. (.07%)
[*]Induced radioactivity from Ted Sprague. (Landslide)[/list]

The mark of death sign is kind of interesting. I remember the Hasian from last year wore a necklace that had that sign and then Peter pops up with that necklace on too. I believe it also was shown on Kensei. Should be intresting to see how those all connect.

    Re: Heroes

I watched about 7-8 episodes of season 1 on the weekend, I really dont understand all the fuss over this show, I didnt find it captivating at all, I actually left the room a few times during the course of watching it. Theres too much going on, I find itreally annoying cutting to 8-9 different stories all the time. Plus I just find the whole "superhero" thing lame (in the context of a show such as this).

    Re: Heroes

I like everything so far except for the really annoying latino brother and sister, who say the same thing over and over, but ever so angstily. I was kind of hoping the Haitian would make his return as the big villian, but I'm happy to see him regardless. It's also been slow but it kind of has to be, so that's fine by me. Bennet, Claire, Hiro, even, surprisingly, Parkman and Mohinder have been more than holding their own- and I was sad to see Sulu bite it.

I'll catch up when Season Two is on DVD. It's just not making me want to tune in every week like it was in season one.

    Re: Heroes

They are bringing back the Nicky - Jessica storyline, which is by far the worst aspect of the show.

By the way, Claire's biological mother is the woman with Sylar in the promos, I think.

Oh, ye of little faith. Seriously, the show was so good last year it take a lot more than a slow start to derail much enthusiasm on my part.

Has anyone thought about maybe Sylar is the one that's haunting Molly? He was the first one that came my mind when I saw that.......

I'm waiting for Kristin Bell and Sylar to show up.

I still like it but it doesn't have that new car smell. Everything they have shown us this season they showed us last.

If in fact there are a set number of powers available, then I don't think it's so much she is able to replicate what she sees on TV as it is she has advanced memory, like Hiro's cutie from season one.

Parkman's father is the bad guy, hmmmm.

    Re: Heroes

Yeah I heard about Parkmans father b4 the season started. The spoilers was right.

That's about the farthest it went about this season though. Now ppl are thinking he might be controlling one

of the current heroes to kill the original superhumans.

    Re: Heroes

Hmm, original superhuman is a tricky term. If the Kenzei was a super human and he proceeded "group", how can we call anyone original.

    Is there a dracula?
