ASU SOFTBALL is in their CWS, but I won't mention that here. This is for the man's game. ASU baseball is hosting a regional. I think they can go really far this year.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Vanderbilt leads 4 SEC schools as NCAA regional hostsBy DENNIS WASZAK Jr., AP Sports WriterMay 27, 2007Top-ranked Vanderbilt was one of four Southeastern Conference schools selected Sunday as regional tournament hosts by the NCAA Division I baseball committee. With star left-hander and possible No. 1 draft pick David Price and slugging third baseman Pedro Alvarez, the Commodores will host one of the 16 four-team regionals for the first time since the NCAA went to the current regional format in 1975.The kids have played extremely well all year and deserve something like this," Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin said. "It was a goal at the beginning of the season to play at home in trying to get to Omaha. We accomplished it, and now we have got to take advantage of it."Each of the 16 host schools are guaranteed berths in the 64-team tournament, which starts Friday. The rest of the field, including the top eight national seeds, will be announced Monday. The selection committee pored through the 54 bids to host regionals since Friday afternoon to determine the sites."There were some really outstanding bids by some really deserving teams," committee chairman Larry Templeton said. "We probably spent more time discussing the host sites this year than we have in the past."In addition to Vanderbilt, other SEC schools selected to host are: Arkansas, Mississippi and South Carolina. The Atlantic Coast Conference (Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia) and Big 12 (Missouri, Texas, Texas A&M) will have three each. The other regional hosts are: Arizona State, Coastal Carolina, Long Beach State, Rice, San Diego and Wichita State."Interest in college baseball and interest in hosting has continued to grow, and that's what we wanted," said Templeton, also the athletic director at Mississippi State. Each of the regionals will be held at campus stadiums except for at Coastal Carolina, which will be played at Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and at the University of Texas, which will played at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. San Diego's regional will be held at San Diego State's Tony Gwynn Stadium after the schools teamed up to make a bid to host.Coastal Carolina, Missouri and San Diego join Vanderbilt as first-time hosts, while Florida State is hosting a regional for the 26th time. Texas is hosting for the 23rd year, and Arizona State will have a regional for the 17th time.Templeton said the committee considers geographic location as the most important factor when determining the host sites, not the amount of the bids."I don't think we even thought about whether financially one is better than the other bid," Templeton said. "Everybody who has a host bid met the minimum financial standards."Six sites -- Arkansas, North Carolina, Mississippi, Rice, Texas and Virginia -- also hosted last year. The winners of each regional will advance to the super regionals, played June 8-11. The eight winners of the super regionals will play in the College World Series, which starts June 15 in Omaha, Neb</div>
ASU is one of only 3 of 8 #1 ranked teams to move on past the regionals. Looking good, but hopefully North Carolina or Rice can be knocked out before the CWS.
ASU won 7-0 this afternoon and will be heading to Omaha. South Carolina with an upset win over North Carolina, 8-6. They won their series and are also headed to the CWS. Wow, I think Rice and ASU are the only top ranked teams left, aren't they?

The 8-6 win by South Carolina was finishing up a game that was postponed last night, and that was the second game of the series NC won the game tonight.

Wow, Louisville killed my Cowboys 20-2. Game 1 was 7-0, I have no clue how we one game two. But f*cking 20-2? That is unheard of at that stage of the tournament.:Swoon: :Swoon: :Swoon:UC Irvine is winning it all. They have come in on fire!

Hah, interesting...ASU's first game is against UC Irvine. We'll crush those fools! And Sparky is the best mascot ever btw.
ASU just beat UC Irvine, 5-4. The middle of the line-up didn't do too much for us, but we still go 3 home runs: A 3-run shot by UNC transfer Matt Spencer and solo home runs by Rutherford and Davis. Both our pitchers for the game were freshman and besides that 1 bad inning by Leake they did very well. ASU plays the winner of Oregon State and Cal State Fullerton on Monday.
Oregon State gets a win over Cal State Fullerton, 3-2. Good to see the Pac-10 doing well today, but most importantly I feel confident that ASU can beat Oregon State on a neutral field. We just came off a sweep against them in Corvallis. Who knows though with this tournament...
Today there were soe very good games. The best one was the Cal State Fullerton Vs. UC Irvine. Though after thirtheen UC Irvine winning with a base hit. Right now though in the Arizone State Vs. Oregon State game OSU is killing ASU.
That was terrible. Now we have to win at least 3 in a row to stay in this including another match-up against UC Irvine. We have a great team this year, but this is trouble...
North Carolina takes two straight from Rice, setting up a rematch of last year's championship series with Oregon State. Should be very interesting.
I'm hurting inside. I feel ASU was the most talented team, but the freshman just choked it away. I'm surprised Rice lost two in a row! I'm rooting for Oregon State. Pac-10 Pride!
