So I am heading down to Sunriver tomorrow for family gathering. Sister was nice enough to pull kids out of school so we can ski Thur and Fri before christmas vacation hits the schools. We have decided to take Sat and Sun off from sking. We got about 20 of us including 10 kids ranging from 3-15. This board is a weath of knowlege, what are good family/group activities to keep everyone entertained. Sledding, snowmobile riding and sleigh rides were what we came up with on our own brainstorming . . . but any must do or try this type of activities in Bend during the winter?
When I lived in Klamath Falls we used to ice skate on frozen ponds. If no skates, then slide around on slick shoes. Consider wearing head gear of some sort. We also used to have a nice fire in the snow. Used a barrel and it was fun for the kids.
Don't have skates and my dad will probably break his hip. But I love the fire idea . . . what kind of barrel and where do I find one down there?
We used a big 50g steel one that was in our yard when we bought the house. I'm not sure where to get one, but maybe ask a local.
Hit up the Old Mill District in Bend. Cool place to eat and do some shopping. Take a tour of Deschutes Brewing. Sunriver has ice skating at their mall.
There is a big family fun center on the north end of Bend. Bumper cars, bowling, pool tables, video games, etc. If there is snow in Bend, which it looks like there may be in the next few days, sledding at Drake Park if fun. Or, there is a sno-park on Century Drive on the way to Mt. Bachelor where a lot of people go sledding. Ask in Sunriver; they'll know where it is. I'll be in Bend on Sunday, with skiing on Monday and maybe Tuesday. Will you be at the mountain on Monday, Kiss_My_Darius?
Good spot. I've stayed there as well, and hosted a Super Bowl party there when the Cardinals played the Steelers. Big hot tubs, large condos, big heated swimming pool, large ice skating rink, decent little workout area, play area for kids, and very close to Bachelor.
I've been once in the winter. Had a blast on skating rink when I was hammered. I go every summer though. My aunt owns a condo there and all us cousins get together and cause havoc on downtown Bend at night. One of my favorite past times is drunken horseshoes at the Inn.
Go again in the winter if you get the chance. Great deals to be found on Craigslist these days, but it looks like you aren't living in Oregon anymore?
Oh, I thought "V-Town" was Vegas, or at least Vancouver, BC. Didn't know you were in Vantucky. Sorry!
Yeah, I'm just one of those guys who lives in Vancouver that pays rent Not everyone can be a baller and own there own vegan deli.
