Of all places.... it's not the ideology that's surprising, but considering what the Nazis did to Russia....
Not to shoot down this topic in any way, but this is a bit of old news to be honest. I agree it is a bit odd considering the past between Nazis and the Soviet Union. In any case, it all started in Siberian parts (actually tied to soccer lower league ultras) and moved into larger cities such as Novosibirsk in the "Asian Region" of Russia's southern stem. As for St. Petersburg fans, I wouldn't classify a small group as an entire fan base. That's just ignorant and needless.
I just heard about this recently. Pretty ignorant on my part, since it's been happening in the country I was born in.
Hate groups are awful. You can see and feel their presence in America. They tend to be more successful in the "Red" states for some reason. Their latest target has been hispanics. Oddly similar to what you are seeing in Russia.
Its not necessarily the Nazi aspect, so much as it is that these groups embody so many parts of the radical right: fascist leanings, anti-immigration/multiculturalism, sexism, racism, etc. In most of these radical European groups, the Nazi element is just a hollow practice that's long since lost its meaning. European hate groups scare the hell out of me though. I have an uncle in England who reports on them and writes for a magazine, and some of his stories are just incredible.

There's a lot of videos on youtube about them. What's sad are all the violent comments associated with those videos.
