Netflix is looking to make a big splash at next year's Oscars. The streaming platform has acquired the African war drama Beasts of No Nation, directed by True Detective'sCary Fukunaga and starring Idris Elba. The movie, based on Uzodinma Iweala's 2005 novel of the same name, will be released later this year, simultaneously in select theaters in the U.S. and worldwide on Netflix. Written and directed by Fukunaga, the project tells the story of a young boy who is forced to join a group of soldiers in an unnamed West African country.
