Nets CEO Rod Thorn said Best, who agreed to a partially guaranteed one-year deal after averaging 2.8 points for Dallas last season, must pass a physical but is expected to be with the team on Monday for media day. Best will compete against Jacque Vaughn and Zoran Planinic to see who will start in place of Kidd while the franchise star recovers from knee surgery.</div>-benmaller.com

Solid signing, I wish could have gotten Marcus Banks, who the Nets were targeting in a trade. But it couldnt happen, so we just went with the more realistic option in Travis Best. Hopefully, Best can shake off being stuck at the end of Dallas' bench all last year. I think Best has the edge for the starting job right now because Vaughn just doesnt produce enuff to be a starter over a long period of time. Vaughn will be a solid stablizer off the bench. If Best can shoot the ball well, & get the ball in the open court as much as possible, I think will be fine till J.Kidd returns
