<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">INDIANAPOLIS - While Nets team president Rod Thorn expressed guarded optimism about the Nets' ability to sign the talented but troubled Eddie Griffin, one opposing GM expressed his opinion that New Jersey rates as one of the real favorites among the many teams trying to win the services of the 6-10 forward. "They certainly are among the teams," said the opposing exec. "I think they have as good a chance as anyone." </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We have an interest. He has a bunch of alternatives," said Thorn who called Griffin "a tremendous defensive rebounder, shot-blocker. He can shoot the ball. He's definitely an NBA talent . . . I think we're being considered. I assume he'll be making a decision the beginning of next week." The Nets have a strong Philadelphia connection, namely, senior VP of Basketball Operations Ed Stefanski, which could be a factor in their hunt for the ex-Seton Hall star Griffin, a Philly product - as is his agent, Arn Tellem. For the Nets, it's low risk, high gain. Although Griffin is weeks away from playing shape, he would cost the Nets less than $500,000. The Nets selected Griffin for the Rockets with the seventh pick in the 2001 draft and sent him to Houston for three first-rounders: Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins and Brandon Armstrong. "If you look at our bench right now, a big player with talent can find a spot to play for us. We've got Aaron [Williams, injured] out and some guys who have struggled off and on," Thorn said. </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We are talking about a guy three years ago that were probably saying he is the best player in the draft," said Byron Scott, who did not seem worried over Griffin's character issues. "From what I know of Eddie watching him in college, he is not a bad kid." </div> New York Post
Eddie would be a good fit in Jersey to come off the bench and give a little scoring at the forward spot which Rodney Rodgers is falling to do right now.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">Wow. I can't wait. I'd like to see him in a Nets uniform.</div> Me neither especially since, he'll be replacing Rodney Rodgers, such a big man with no blocking ability or rebounding ability. All he can and has done is shoot, now he seems to have lost it, this'll be great for the Nets.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">Will he play on Friday night?</div> Iam not really for sure, but I dont think so. He has alot of problems to workout before he can play. I think he has something on his release that says he has to be in his house before 7:00pm. So he would at least have that lifted by a court before he can play. And that cant happen until he goes to court in the middle of January. I dont expected to see Eddie in a nets uniform until the second half of the season. Maybe after the All-star break. He hasnt even practice with the team once. He has a long way to go to get in game ready shape after sitting out since last April. But when ever he comes, he will be a weclomed edition to our weak frontline. Now only if we can either trade Rodney or get him to produce half as well as he did on the Suns or even the Celtics for that matter. But all & all things in Netsville are real starting to look better & better. Even Harris is starting to produce again.
Oh. So I guess Miki Moore won't be released yet. Scott said that Moore will be released once Eddie plays

I mean Miki Moore only played in blowouts. How much can you possibly prove in those type of games? I look at a guy like Oliver Miller, who the T-wolves signed to a small contract. Everybody made fun of them for signing him. but Flip Suanders gave him an opportunity to play & he is contributing. He is apart of their regular rotation & him gives them size on the boards. And He might even start when they start playing bigger frontline teams like Lakers, & Portland next week. So we should have given Miki Moore a better opportunity to shine.
