NEW YORK, May 12, 2006 ? The NBA announced today that Clifford Robinson of the New Jersey Nets has been suspended without pay for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. Robinson?s suspension will begin with tonight?s game between the New Jersey Nets and the Miami Heat. Source Come on Uncly Cliffy!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobimel:</div><div class="quote_post">is it just me, or if he the last guy that you would expect to do drugs?</div> Exactly what I was thinking. Doesn't sound like Uncle Cliffy, especially if its around playoff time.
He's had these troubles before...I thought that he put them behind himself. I guess I was wrong. What a shame. Otherwise he is a very good role-model.
It doesn't sound like Uncle Cliffy at all. Besides, he seems a little too old to be doing drugs. It reminds me of some Cam'ron DVD I saw a little while ago.
Yea now when Collins sits down, we will have big problems gaurding Shaq. We will have to go the whole series without him.
This came kind out of the blue. This is probably the most random thing that can happen in the series. To those who believe Cliff isn't the type of person to do this, do you not remember what happened with him last year in Golden State? Anyways huge blow for the Nets. Although he hasn't been performing well, he's the first big man off the bench and now John Thomas (who?) would have to be the first big off the bench replacing Nenad or Collins.

Plus the guy's 40 years old, most people stop smoking bud before they're 30 (people with a career that is).
wow. Cliff is a great guy. The nets will miss him on their bench. I was a bit suprised to see cliff suspended for drugs at this time in the playoffs. You would think he would know better at his age.
To all of you that don't think this is Cliff, how long have you been following the NBA? Don't you remember all the Uncle Spliffy jokes that stems WAYYY back to Portland? I thought Cliff would've quit by now, or atleast take a break for the playoffs, but it's a damn shame how he let this team down. I wouldn't even resign him if he takes the playoffs this lightly. Damn shame. I understand it's only weed, in my college time back 10 years ago, I did some and it's really not that bad, but rules are rules. He's a professional, this **** should be over.

Lol i was gona say hes trying to repress his Finals memories....if you dont remember im talking of the 6 Jordan 3s in da first half of the 92 finals and after the 6th jordan does the After the game he says "What was I Suppose to do, I had a hand in the guys face!" now that was good times lol But ud neva expect someone like him to do something like that. Bad for the Nets
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Although no one but the league knows for sure, it is believed that Clifford Robinson's suspension is the result of a failed drug test, but Robinson says it's a mistake according to his agent. The agent, Brad Marshall says that Robinson had previously tested clean three times this season and "there is no way he would jeopardize the most important time of the season." He also says that they will pursue additional testing through an independent laboratory</div> Source I just hope the whole thing is a mistake.
IM guessing it was marijuana....my friends exgirlfriend dated him, and she said that he used to love to smoke the mary jane
I'm tired of players being victimized for smoking marijuana. Granted it's illegal in the United States, it shouldn't be, and it's far less harmless than alcohol, salvia, or various other legal drugs that I'm sure NBA players use. I'm not mad at the NBA for suspending him, because they have to uphold the rules, but I don't think you guys should be so disappointed in Robinson for such a minor violation.
