Even as donations poured in, there simply wasn't enough money to rebuild the court in time for basketball season, which draws some 350 kids between ages 5 and 18.

Then last month Mike Nardino, the executive director, got a call from the New Jersey Nets. A community outreach initiative by the NBA, the WNBA and Toyota wanted to donate $50,000 for a new basketball court, to be built in time for the start of the season next month.
