QUOTE

With a week to go before Opening Night and the roster nearly set, the Nets are ranked 12th in the NBA.com preseason power rankings. The ranking takes into account the return of Nenad Krstic and the team’s new front-court depth, but worries what Jason Kidd’s back injury might portend . Among Eastern Conference teams, the Nets rank sixth. Detroit is the only EC team ranked in the top 5.

Start With the Champs and Go From There

Those rankings arent too crazy. I dont agree with the Rockets at #4, Toronto is over rated again at #9 and the Bobcats are a little to low at #25.

Lakers, Memphis and Atlanta are ranked too low. New Jersey should be ranked higher than Toronto and Denver.

If I were to rank them, I'd put Denver ahead, too.

C'mon schub, show some more hometown love.
Overall, I agree with the rankings though. I'd put Detroit ahead of Houston, however.

I don't see why they can't contend in the west.

Except AI and Melo, they don't have that much. I like Kmart as well but he's coming back after not playing so many games and you know Camby and that Brazilian dude are injury prone. Houston, San Antone, Dallas are way ahead of them and should be able to easily beat them if there were to meet in the playoffs.

This year, they have a fresh start, instead of waiting till about 1/4 of the season's over, they get to start from training camp, which should be good for them.
I'm taking a wait-and-see approach with this one...While the firepower and defense on that team looks great, it's still not 100% sure if they'll all mesh right.
